Hi everyone…
I’m new here and I love to fish but I’m not big on crowds so I was just wondering if anyone knew if any secret low profile fishing spots in or near San Antonio Tx??
If you are familiar with New Braunfels , River Road is the place to go. Nice drive, it follows the Guadalupe river all the way to Canyon Lake. A park called Lazy L&L is awesome . Bass , catfish , perch, crappie & rainbow trout. The river is deep & slow & at the end of the property the river bends & turns to rapids. Beautiful. Give it a try. Worth your time just to see.
Never caught catfish with them but I put them in my minnow traps & they work well for that !

So iv been bowfishing the carp around my local lake and im having trouble finding someone that will take them or finding a good place to leave the bodies without making my park look like fishschwits, any suggestions? The average fish is about 10 lbs and above with at least a few shot everyday so theres a lot of meat there i just dont have a use for it and nobody wants them in the lake anyway so should i just throw them in the garbage? I dispatch the fish so they dont suffer btw. And can someone exppain why carp are so hated, thank you.

Have you tried cooking them. I've always been told trash fish because they are bottom feeders. So are catfish ! I met some folks fishing that were from Ukraine. Here on visas. Good people. They were trying to catch carp. In their country a delicacy. They cut out the red veins & cut them into nugget size pieces. Old cast iron pan with olive oil & cooked them with cut up onions , salt & pepper . No batter. Really good .
I put a couple of these & just about 1/3 handful of dry dog food . Doesn't take much .
Welcome aboard J. I do the same thing in the morning. Great reading & People !
Awesome. Too cold for us in South Texas !
Amen & Thanks RJS . Good start to the Morning !
The Great State of Texas stocks the Guadalupe River with Rainbow. We would catch them , filet them & roll them up like a carpet . I have an old cast iron cupcake pan that we just laid on top of the fire. Poured beer in the cups & put the rolled up filets in the cup. Good stuff. The kids liked them so much I did them the same way at home except I'd spray oil in the cups , salt & pepper before I rolled them up & a slab of butter on top. I put a toothpick in them to hold it together. A little lemon juice when they are done . Hard to beat.
Yup , Spadefish . Texas Parks & Wildlife say they are some of the best eatin in the Gulf . We catch them in Port Aransas on the jetty's using peeled shrimp along with drum. Put up a good fight .
Thank you for your service ! Going towards the ferry , last small bridge before the ferry, take a left ,it curves to the right. Lots of little places carved out so you can back up into. You'll need lawn chair & cold beer . Good trout , redfish , flounder. Live shrimp , mullet dead or alive. I'll put some poles on bobbers & some on the bottom. Springtime great place to catch blue crab . The road used to take you to the gambling ship that is longer there. Good luck .
