I have watched several You Tube videos on bait cannons used to get the bait and hook out beyond the breakers when surf fishing. Many people make them using PVC pipe and some are commercially available. Anybody tried them?

Try going on the boat that goes from Port Aransas to San Jose island. That allows you to fish off the jetty as well as go surf fishing. IF you go to Fulton Harbor, there are two places to buy bait, fresh live shrimp and mullet. They also have a long fishing pier there. Goose island, have to get a permit, has a very long pier and a lot of people wade fish. On Goose island you can fish from the shore near the public boat ramp along the road bayside in the direction of the large oak tree. Sea Gun is a bait shop towards Goose Island State park right after the gas station on hwy 35.Ask people in the bait shop best places to fish.

Go to Port Aransas and ride the boat over to San Jose island. You can fish from the rock jetty or go surf fishing. You will have lots of space, and peace of mind. Buy a fishing cart to carry tackle and snacks.

I ordered this microsd card thinking it would fit my Hummingbird Helix 9. It went into the sad slot but when powered up, only half of the navigation pictures was displayed. I called Hummingbird and found that it was the wrong card. Hummingbird would not allow returning it, so I am offering it free to someone who can use it. I bought a Navionics SD card in Rockport TX that works so I can navigate the bays with this one.

Since you can go anywhere, try Cedar Bayou near the second set of islands. Also try Bray Cove off of Mesquite Bay.

Went to Cedar Bayou twice in last few days. Big Redfish and trout are in there and lots of smaller fish. Son in law had a big sea trout on the hook but it jumped out of the water and shook the hook out. Previously about 2 weeks ago with 4 kids on the Yamaha 210 FSH, the group caught several big fish in Cedar Bayou at the grass line area. Lots of boats are fishing this area.

There are multiple ways to get tips for where to fish and how to rig your fishing gear. The Texas Parks and Wildlife issue a weekly fishing report. Members on this website are very helpful also. There is also a weekly TV channel that covers the Texas Gulf coast fishing. Basically if you are bay fishing, redfish, sea trout and black drum are common targets to catch. Most people use live bait : shrimp, cut mullet, or small perch bought at bait shops located around Port Aransas or Rockport. Port Aransas has a fishing supply store in downtown that sells live and frozen bait. If you are surf fishing, try the jetties. The popping jig is popular for live bait for bay fishing.

I tried it about 2 months ago thinking it was a prime time. The issue was the wind on that day and got no bites. Fisherman coming back into the landing said that they could not fish their popular brush piles due to the wind. Back in the winter when I was selling a NauticStar boat with a Lowrance fish finder, I saw schools of fish probably crappie, that had maybe a hundred of fish in multiple schools. So the fish are there, go to brush piles when the wind is not a factor.

I am looking for a shop or individual in Texas that installs custom T Tops on center console boats. I own a 21 ft center console boat that came with a Bimini top and want to retrofit with an aluminum tubing anodized white T Top. Top would be sunbrella material or similar. Anybody that has done a similar project I would appreciate feedback. My budget is $3500.
