Hi everyone, I’m looking to purchase a bait casting rod for saltwater. I am looking for a rod that can handle good sized redfish, but also can take smaller speckled trout. I have a rod ugly stik that is so stiff I have a hard time throwing artificial lures. Does anybody have any baitcasting rods that is flexible enough to throw lighter artificial lures, but can also throw heavier lures as well?

There are many names like speckled trout, specks, yellowmouths, spotted weakfish, and paper mouths. I have always called them speckled trout or specks. In Louisiana you can catch 25 a day and they have to be over 12 inches. In this upcoming fall, there are a lot of rumors about tightening these down. They will hit paddle tail lures, hard bodied lures and a large assortment of others. They feed on shrimp and minnows primarily. Occasionally i find small crabs in the stomach of redfish, but never trout. I like to spice them up with cumin, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and other interesting ingredients I find in my cabinet. Then I put some butter and prepared garlic in a pan, and cook it in that.
I would post some photos but I can never figure out how to on someone else’s post

Hello, I’ve haven’t been on this site in a while, but I really need help with this problem. I recently bought some penn saltwater reels and one of them is jamming up. I did not drop it in saltwater, or any other large problems. I wash them very, very well. Emphasis on well. I spend a long time with each one carefully washing them out with freshwater. I make sure that the water really gets in there. Please help if you have info on this problem

If your asking where, I’ve been hearing about people crushing reds and specks at the long and short rocks. You do catch a ton of sheepshead thought, but if you use a popping cork you probably won’t catch as many sheepshead. Unless you like sheepshead
