Call the game warden on the foreigners illegally fishing. They may catch them in the future.
I haven't been able to get out yet, but a friend got some in Keller bay in South Hero.
They are free over 70 in NJ. Everything seems out of line with national prices in Ca.
I cast small spoons like Kast masters and if you can find them gold and orange Fiord spoons. If trolling I vary colors on single hook spoons like silver or rainbow trout. Most sporting goods stores will advise on best colors.
The bridge or under it and on the causeway is a good spot for salmon in the Spring. Caught many there before I started boating for them.
Nice job. I pass on opening day. Too many idiot fisherman who think you have to wade out into the middle of a river or creek to catch trout. All they do is scare fish. There will be more plenty left when the crowds leave.
Never fished the other lakes. I was lucky enough to buy a camp in South Hero many years ago. I put the boat in April and keep on my dock until about October.
I used to work on Fair Grounds rd in Hamilton. I fish Lake Champlain in the Keeler Bay and inland sea area. Flat line trolling for Salmon works well there after ice out and to the begining of May. If out there and see a grey and white Stratos 386 in the bay say hello. I come up from NJ at the end of April.
Sorry, don't know where they were caught. I didn't do original post.
I think they stock channel cats there.
White and red large spinner bait with a Twisted tail teaser. It had silver blade. There is another lake near there also stocked with Muskys. Its called Mountain Lake. If you have GPS locate " The Lodge" on Mountain Lake. Its right on lake with good parking and a reasonable lunch. Good luck!
My encounter was the in the Spring May have been a female protecting her young.
Be careful on Beaver ponds. They can be aggressive and nasty. I was fishing in North Jersry once when one swam towards me slapping its tail , then started hissing and growling and showed its teeth. I moved about 50 yards away and it went back to its lodge.
No, I didn't even think of it. I guess I was too fascinated by seeing it.
I believe there are also piers in Sayreville and Perth Amboy on the Raritan if you are down that way. I used to work in Carteret a number of years ago and some areas were not the best of neighborhoods. May have changed. Be careful.
