[quote=Haferkamp 77]Wanting to find good fishing holes either bank fishing or floor tube near hot springs or Custer South dakota[/quote

I can name several fishing spots around Hot Springs and Custer. Cold Brook Lake North of Hot Springs closest to you. I have caught perch/blue gill there. Then Stockage Lake and Center Lake East of Custer, both in Custer State Park. You would have to purchase a park pass to enter the state park. Sylvan Lake north of Custer, also in State Park for trout. I fished with my brothers in Stockade Lake last couple of summers and caught pearch, blue bill, and crappie. Center Lake has trout also. Stockade Lake off Hwy 16 on the right just past the turn in to the campground, with a fishing dock or along the East shoreline.
I live in Las Vegas, NV but spend a several weeks with my brother in Custer each summer. My my three brothers and families reserve four camp sites and spend the whole week before Labor Day camping and fishing at Deerfield Reservoir Northwest of Hill City; for trout and yellow perch. We fish around the boat dock close to the Dutchman Campground where we camp. We also drive to Custer Crossing on the North shore where there is a small campground, picnic area and boat launch there.

Good morning!!!

Today’s face is pretty cool. Some people see it, some don’t. Follow the directions above the picture. I found it helps to blink rapidly at first after staring and leave eyes open. The longer you stare at me picture the better the results.

Now try that and close your eyes!!! Interesting

Going to try to do some spring worm fishing fir tour in Tapid City. I fly fish but just found a load of worms. Any recommendations? I have fished since I was a very young girl and one of my favorite hobbies. Moves to Rapid 3 years ago where my ex and I fished for Blue catfish, bass, crappie, and perch. Would love some ideas in where to catch fish locally

Welcome to the site Craecas60.

Though I live in Las Vegas, NV I try to spend time with my brothers in Custer each summer and do a family campout at Deerfield Resevour West of Hill City the week leading up to Labor Day week-end. Have caught trout and yellow perch there.
Three places we fish are in Custer State Park (need State Park Pass, can be purchased online or at park entrance gates. We've caught trout at Sylvan Lake North of Custer and Center Lake East of Custer in state park. And Perch, bluegill, Crappie in Stockade lake East of Custer just in State Part. Brother and I fish off the fishing pier at turn-out just East of Campground turnoff. All using nightcrawlers. Not too sure of fishing closer to Rapid City though.
Hope this helps. hapycmpr

and catchin a few rainbow. They are spawning and stacked up on their beds, but still a challenge sometimes on what they want. And even to land one especially on a fly rod. Also incredible to see them running up this small tributary as they try to spawn. Definite trophy size trout in 20+ inch size range. Check this video, stream is only a few inches dip, and you can step across.
Tight lines…

Those are some beautiful Rainbows there. Thanks for the pictures.

Bluegills, Sunfish, Perch, Rock Bass,
Do you catch more casting or jigging or just using a plain old worm?

I have sucess using just a hook with plain old worm with 18 inch or so leader attached to barrel swivel with slip bobber above. I fish primarilly from shore and cast, let hook sink a minute or two reel in a foot or two, let bait sink again, and repeat. If no action I cast to again nearby and repeat. Have caught yellow perch, bluegill, and crappie. I I like to use this tecnique to catch trout as well. Good luck.

Good morning Doug and all, she must have been a blonde. We’ve got 30*, headed to high 40’s. Think I’ll do a bit of local fishing later this afternoon when the water warms up a bit. Bet you’re glad the sanding part of the project is over Doug and hope everyone has a great day!

A blond and a brunette, unknown to each other, had just rented an apartment together. By the second day together the brunette started to get very annoyed with the blond. She never talked, rarely responded to questions and just sat on the couch staring into space with her head phones on. In fact she never removed the head phones at all.
by the third day the brunette had enough, so she walked behind the blond sitting on the couch and snatched the head phone from her head. Within three of four seconds the blond started gasping and trying to get a breath of air, turned blue and slumped over. The brunette immediatly call 911 and when the paramedics arrived they said she was dead. The brunett was in total shock that something like that could happen.
She get a little curious and picked up the head phones to see what the blond was listening to all the time and to her supprise all she heard was "Breath in breath out, breath in breath out, breath in breath out!

With all of my time in the woods, or on the water I have noticed many things, or behaviors. For example, when you see a flock of Canadian geese migrating, they fly in a large V formation. Typically, one “leg” of the V is longer than the other side. Does anyone know why that is?

I'm guessing that one of the geese in the longer line will be next in line to take over lead. ??

Hello stagers,
I just read a interesting article about what bone are you most likely to break. It said the Clavicle or the shoulder blade. The reason for this is that it is the closest bone to the surface of the body with no muscle tissue surrounding it.
That makes sense and yes I have broken my Clavicle while playing football, but I have broken my toes numerous times. I don't often wear shoes when inside.
What bones have you broken? Both major and minor breaks.

Good Saturday morning you Looney Tunes!
How lucky was that? We missed a Friday the 13th by just one day!

It's 39° and pouring down rain.. we really need the rain (just bear with me.. I'm trying to be positive) It looks like the temperature will start falling this morning and then turn to $h!t (read:snow.. so much for positivity)
Low temp will be around 20° tonight.

Heading out to work today since I was off on Wednesday running the Wifey to Johnstown.

Your Saturday funny:

I told my boss three companies were after me and I needed a raise to stay at my job. We haggled for a few minutes, and he gave me a 5% raise.

Leaving his office, he stopped and asked me, "By the way, which companies are after you?" I responded, "The gas, electric, and cable company."

Grab a bowl of Fruit Loops and a glass of Tang. Have a great day kids.. don't forget to chew your Flintstones!

I loved your humor today Doug and look for your post for a chuckle everyday. Sun shinning here in Las Vegas with a high of 52 deg. after a low of 30 deg. at my house. Not many nights down to freezing and not often do we get snow here in the valley. My location being one of the lowest in elevation and a little hotter in the summer too. I've recorded 120 deg. several summers recently. Global warming?? Summer heat just around the corner. Hurrah!!

Did you know it's also Houseplant Appreciation Day?? Don't do anything silly like trying to hug your cactus, just talk to them.. they're happy with the Carbon Dioxide from your breath. (Brush your teeth first. Nobody likes morning breath)

It's 37° and the wind is howling. It's to get to 39° this afternoon. It looks like the winds may die down late tonight.

We're on the road today. I have to take the Wifey to Johnstown for depositions for the legal case from her accident 3 yrs ago. This has been a long drawn out mess to put it lightly.. We'll be glad when it's all settled..

Growing up we called them potatoe sacks as well as burlap sacks, feed sacks for cracked corn or rolled oats.
