You are missing out. It really works. That is my primary bait in Puget Sound
-++saltwater for flatfish and rockfish/rockbass, and greenling. It does outfish many real baits and does not have to be kept alive or refrigerated. My two go to's are 2" sand worms and 4" chartreuse mullet. This year, they are going to be compared to freshwater baits.

Never had a bit of luck on any of them, although I know others who fish where I do that have had luck with them.

Probably ten years ago, before the drought for sure! Hopefully the lakes will bounce back. Love to see Henshaw full again. It was a crappie haven,

Most of the ones I’ve caught were in a boat at the north end of El Capitan resevoir.

Water temps and recent storms have kept many confined to the bay.

Ted wiggler is a great panfish bait, but an even better composting worm, and ver prolific when they get enough food.

That’s winter fishing on the bay, slow, slow, slow! Reduce the size of your baits and slow down on the retrieve, deadsticking now and then.

Same for me. The drought has been disastrous for our lakes! Saltwater for me.

El Capitan is still one of the best since it went to. 10” size limit. Henshaw use to be known for numbers , but it’s mainly inhabited by carp now.

Will be in San Diego next week, I plan to spend a day throwing a spoon or jig around the jetty! Any recommendations to help me catch a fish appreciated. Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving. 🐠✌️

Of those piers mentioned, they are piers you don’t need a license at, but there is Crystal pier in Pacific beach which is private. You can fish it but you do need a license there. Seen a lot of no license tickets written there by to people who didn’t know different.

Bring some plastic swim baits and Texas rig them if you don’t want to snag up. Plan on losing some terminal tackle. Be really careful on those rock jetties, they can be pretty dangerous!

I'd reverse that order, and I know they are both members of the perch family. Both excellent eater hands down.
