Haven't been down there since '98, but El Cap used to be a fantastic crappie lake.

Years ago I caught a3.5 crappie on a live shiner at EL CAP at the north end of the lake. Also have caught some at Sutherland but that was maybe in the late 80s early 90s. Go on the net to SD Fish and ask there. Good luck the lakes are pretty low. I gave up on our lakes years ago and only fish SD bay by boat and never been skunked. El Capitan is still one of the best since it went to. 10” size limit. Henshaw use to be known for numbers , but it’s mainly inhabited by carp now.

Same for me. The drought has been disastrous for our lakes! Saltwater for me.
