Where in Ohio are you looking to fish?
Not Sure where in Ohio you are? If in the north west corner I may be able to give you some suggestions.
We Iced over Sunday here in the north west corner. I'm thinking of trying Friday or Saturday depending on what the wife lets me do. What are the best baits for lakes less than 12 foot in depth.
Have been there several times and never caught a thing. Try the Wauseon Resvour.
Heard they caught a 40 pounder near Defiance the other day.
Tallapia also work but are winter killed. A friend used them every year and would fish them out at the end of the year if he could. He said about the same cost as chemicals.
I have to throw my giant catch in from last fall .
Caught 4 bluegill Friday around lunchtime. They must have been hungry. Used wax worms the bait shop gave me because he said they weren't up to his standards. Got to love old time owners that treat you right.
Had friends catch limit out of manke 2 times last weekend. Maumee river they said this morning almost everyone was limiting out .
Julie I have been checking it out also. My daughter lives like 10 minutes from there. They are scheduled for trout release today or tomorrow. The limit is 5 I believe. Another location near you would be Kaiser lake. State park. No motor boats allowed. It looks nice from the road. I believe it would be the same distance for you to drive.
I'm a fan of the Yamamoto senkos. Not sure why but many times I have fished for hours throwing everything but the kitchen sink. Drop on a senkos a boom I catch a fish. Must be something different about them. I have lots of knock offs but there is something different about them.
Totaled my Aveo on one of the darn things.
I get down to the Springfield area often I have a Daughter who lives there. Also get to Springboro a few times a year to a sister- in-laws house. But don't get to fish very often. 2 other places to check out that have good fishing if you have a boat are Indian lake but it has had a bad weed problem this year. This is off 33 near Belfountain.
Grand lake on the West side of St Mary's Ohio also has good fishing. I caught qute few blue gill in the channels there earlier this summer. Kiser lake state park south east of Sydney looked inviting but I haven't had time to try there. No motors allowed there.
Cowan state park south west of wilmington might also be a location to try. I just spotted it on a map no nothing about it. Have heard good things about Ceasar creek and CJ Brown.
Correction Caesar creek state park is off route 42 not 48. Sits between 42 and I 71
