Thanks. I bet the current weather has shut everything down. This cold snap is historic for that area I understand. We have friends in West Texas that are dealing with single digit temps and below zero windchills, rolling blackouts and freezing pipes. The cows aren't too happy either. Here in New England we just go Ice Fishing.
Out of curiosity, what time of year was that? I'm planning a month in Port Aransas this time next year and want to get into some fish.
Thanks for the info. Grey Ghost was mentioned on another site I found, so that sounds like my starting point. I'll have a supply of stoneflies handy also. Good info. I'm hoping to give it a try on Monday.
Flyguy, Next year I have a month, mid January to mid February, booked near Corpus Christy/Port Aransas. Will anything be biting that time of year from the beach? I'm staying on the beach and was hoping to do some surf fishing.
I visited South Padre a couple times on day trips last year around that time but didn't have my fishing gear. I did see people fishing from shore but don't know if they were successful. I'm hoping that there will be something running that time of year.
Anybody been out fishing for the Brood Stock Salmon stocked in the Shetucket River this year? I've never tried it but with the warmer weather and cabin fever I'm looking at giving it a try. Any tips on tackle either fly or spin would be appreciated. Also any techniques/presentations that would work.
Not looking for any info on your secret honey hole as I would enjoy finding my own, just some intel on hooking up with my first Salmon.
