Anybody been out fishing for the Brood Stock Salmon stocked in the Shetucket River this year? I've never tried it but with the warmer weather and cabin fever I'm looking at giving it a try. Any tips on tackle either fly or spin would be appreciated. Also any techniques/presentations that would work.

Not looking for any info on your secret honey hole as I would enjoy finding my own, just some intel on hooking up with my first Salmon.

Hey CT Wanderer; if it helps, I fly fish - we had the same program here in NH and here is what has produced some nice Atlantic Salmon for me; In the Fall and Spring - they chase Grey Ghost, Magog Smelt and Winnipesaukee Smelt patterns - sizes 6-10. Winter - weighted, big black, olive or “20 incher” Stoneflies. Fish the bottom with the stones and get ready to lose some. My favorite is the back side of pools. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Grey Ghost was mentioned on another site I found, so that sounds like my starting point. I'll have a supply of stoneflies handy also. Good info. I'm hoping to give it a try on Monday.

Used to get them on Micky Fins. Now I just troll for them in the Spring on Lake Champlain.
