Hi Frank. I'm in Ft. Meyers right now. Just sold my house here and heading home up north tomorrow. Wish I could take this weather with me. Enjoy the new boat.

Why are you leaving Florida and all of that water to move to where there is no fishing for months?

That’ll be the day. I’ll be out tomorrow as usual and as usual I’ll throw a Senco style rubber worm and hope for the best.

All of my life I have heard the expression “never fish on the first day of a cold front” yet the people who say it are out there fishing. I understand that there is a sudden rise in barometric pressure but does that change in the weather discourage anyone from fishing?

Thanks that’s the most reasonable thing I’ve heard. On the other hand this happened overnight and not a gradual slack off. I fished there for two hours today with nary a tug.

It’s more like a conservation club pond. Not open to the public only members. I doubt if they’d spend the money for such a study. Today I was told that there will be stocking of 200 trout so we will see what happens to them.

I know what you mean. I’ve talked to two guys who haven’t caught a fish since about the same time yet in a farm pond near my house I get strikes. Figure it out.

I’ve never heard of this bird until I looked it up. I kind of doubt it since we are 150 miles from the ocean and I’ve never seen behavior as described.

Yes I call DNR and the fellow I talked to chalked it up to the changing season and bad luck.

I’ve seen a few minnows in the past and see blue gill all the time. As far as a fish kill wouldn’t there be floating dead fish? There is none of that.

Can anyone offer a suggestion why this has happened?

Three acre private pond in Maryland. Certainly not over fished as I’ve only seen just one or two other fishermen there at a time in fact most of the time I’m the only one there.

During the hottest days of the summer I’d catch 5-6 largemouth in four hours. The bluegill were everywhere and children could catch as many as they wanted.

Fast forward to September 15. In eight visits to the pond I haven’t had a nibble. No bluegill either. No evidence of a fish kill. Any guesses on what’s causing this?

Went bass fishing yesterday on the Umqua river in Oregon with guide Jody Smith. My sister, her husband and I caught and released over 300 bass by 2:00. So busy catching and releasing the fish I did not get any piectures. If you want a memorable day fishing in Oregon give Jody a call and see what and when he has some fising open.

Didn’t have time? Sounds fishy.

Get yourself a chum bag and sink a can of sardines cracked open or a can of perforated frozen dog food. Anything to act as an attractant. Tie off your bag to withstand a turtle attack.

Great idea but who is going to go to all that trouble or even knows what it means?

Did you have fun? That’s all that counts. Henry Thereau said most men who go fishing don’t realize that they are not ding so to catch fish. A true statement. It’s the experience. The time away from everything else. The greater peace.

He also famously said that 10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fish.
