Hey Argyel,
What kind of boat and electronics do you have? Right now you gotta get into 80-85' of water to find the active fish. Leave out of the mouth of the cattaraugus creek or Dunkirk and head to the Canadian line.

Hey Stage friends, We are headed to Crystal River, Fl. in mid October for some fishing. Any suggestions, guide recommendations, etc would be appreciated. We're not specific to any one species, and just want to enjoy the fishing there at that time of year. We did see in the Fl. regs that it looks like the flounder season closes on Oct. 15th for a certain time period. Does that apply to this area also? <))))><

Hey PD,
We don't have much of a flounder fishery in this area. Trout, reds, snook, tarpon, kings, drum and sheepshead mostly.
For restaurants try Seafood cellar, Dan's clam stand. In old Homosassa try the monkey bar, crumps and the freezer for shrimp. Have fun!

Hello all.

I'm new to the forum. Been reading it for a while. This forum has some amazing members. I'm hoping to learn a few things and help when I can. I've been fishing the salt of swfl for 20+ years. I'm thinking this year I may try to fish a bit of freshwater. Originally from upstate New York from a town where the cows out number the people.

Hi SDr.
I too am from NY. Buffalo area, but have a place in Homosassa for the winter. (I can't wait to get back and fish!). I've wanted to get down to Gasparilla pass and check out the fishing. Cool area. Maybe you could give me a few pointers when I haul my boat down there? I'll take you out in Homosassa if you're interested?

Hi Arnie,
I live in old Homosassa near McCraes during the winter and have learned a little bit over the last few years. Hit me up in late November and we can get out on my boat or yours. I'll have a new simrad with Florida marine tracks when I get back! Be careful out there. Our area in very treacherous if you haven't had a lot of experience. It's easy to lose a prop, lower unit or just get stuck and have to wait for a high tide. My email is rcarhar58@yahoo.com. Let's go fishing!

Had a great morning of fishing! We got our 2 man limit and a few bonus perch by 11:45am. Not a tournament box but all good eaters. Green and chartreuse we're the colors. Active fish were 65'-75' deep in about 80' of water.

Hey PD. We fish for walleye here in lake Erie between Buffalo and the PA border to the Canadian line in the middle of the lake. Watertown is at the eastern end of lake Ontario which is a couple hundred miles northeast of us. Ontario is primarily a trout and salmon fishery. There are some walleye fishing opportunities up there but not like in lake Erie. If you want to stop near buffalo on your way up to Watertown I can recommend a fishing guide.

Hey PD. As a matter of fact the walleye fishing will be even better in mid September. We were pre-fishing today for a tournament this weekend and found some active fish!

First time out this season. Water has warmed up to 54°. Perfect wind for a 1 mph drift. Bouncing bottom with worm harnesses in about 28' of water and found some active fish. A very light bite. We put 7 nice sized eaters and three back a half dozen shorts. Good day!

Took the boat out for the last time this spring in Homosassa before putting her away. I wanted to catch one last meal for supper on good Friday. It was a just under slot redfish 26 1/2"! On a dead shrimp with a 5 1/2' ultralight with 10lb test. Good fight! It was a blessed Friday indeed!
Now it's all about getting packed up and heading north to the great lakes and Walleye fishing the summer away!
