I'm a new boater and fisherman to northeast lake Erie and can't seem to find the Waleye any help would be much appreciated as I've been wasting alot of that precious fuel.

Good morning, 1argye. Welcome to the Forum. Maybe hire a local guide for a 1/2 day, and tell him up front that you are a newbie, and that you are here to learn how and where to fish. Then take a hand-held GPS along and mark the spots, and remember what techniques he uses. Ask him about the different techniques he uses in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Erie is big, be careful out there. Good luck.

Flyguy has some good advice. If your competent with your technique and just having trouble finding fish, look for local charter boats on the water. Usually groups of boats are there for a reason!
Depending on the equipment you have, your gonna want to find 64° to 67° water just above the thermocline. A FishHawk is indispensable for this.

From my very limited experience with Erie,, I believe you'll find the walleye to be cyclical moving around the lake through the season.

Used to fish along the wall drifting from lake toward Peace bridge. Also on some days/evenings go to Hamburg Beach. We used to catch Walleyes there. Be careful because it gets shallow there so keep eye on depth finder
I used Rapalas black gold bottom. Dixi spinner with night crawler and leaches are good too. There different techniques. A lot of people fishing walleye and don’t be shy to ask. Been years since I fished Lake Erie and Niagara River. Try googling Walleye Fishing Erie & Niagara River. Some good fishing in those areas. Grew up in Angola, Buffalo and lived in Tonawanda near river Let me know how you make out. Miss fishing up there.

Thank you all!! All very good advice. Will look into a charter and looking for the right water temp and I think I'm going to try south of Dunkirk in deeper water.

There is nothing like Lake Erie walleyes!!!!! I would agree with the other guys. Out of Dunkirk go where the other boats are they're there for good reason:) there's plenty of fish for everyone.

Hey Argyel,
What kind of boat and electronics do you have? Right now you gotta get into 80-85' of water to find the active fish. Leave out of the mouth of the cattaraugus creek or Dunkirk and head to the Canadian line.

Heading down to Dunkirk tommorow as the wearher looks perfect the next couple of days, With everyones great advice I hope to catch my first waleye's. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank to all!!
