That's not a brookie. It's a brown trout.
I have noticed the same situation. I find that slowing my paddle speed and not submerging my paddle as much as I do when I am getting wet, helps.
REGARDING INSIDE-THE-BODY UV LIGHT USE: "HEALIGHT" BEING DEVELOPED BY RESEARCHERS AT CEDARS-SINAI AMOUNTS TO DISINFECTING A PERSON FROM INSIDE HIS/HER BODY. THIS HAS GREAT POSSIBILITIES FOR ALL OF US.

Cognitive dimness DOES as cognitive dimness IS ! ! !
Line's been on my reel for a year. I poured HOT tap water over the spooled line. There was a noticeable improvement regarding line memory ! I will apply REELSNOT line conditioner to the line this week. Should be even greater improvement.
Check out the NOCQUA PRO POWER KIT (water-resistant, 10 Ah, lithium ion battery). It weighs in at approximately one pound and takes up very little space (3.5 in. high x 3.5 in. wide x 2.25 in. deep).
It easily powers my Hook 4X for 8 hours of fishing (that's my max time for a one-day outing). I'm positive that it will function beyond 8 hours. I always recharge it within 24 hours after an outing. It will last for years. Mine is 4 years old. Any questions? My email: mickcieply@gmail.com
I read about pouring HOT tap water over my line (while still on the spool). I then drove to my favorite pond and fished for four hours. The hot water worked. . .no problem with troublesome line memory!
I also checked reviews of "Reelsnot" line treatment. The reviews were very positive. I ordered it and will try it on my next outing.
Check out the Texas-based company, AUSTIN KAYAK. You will see plenty of kayaks on their site.

I have been wanting to get a fishing kayak for a while now and I am finally financially able to get me a entry level yak. I had read that you want to get one that is rated 125 lbs over your body weight. Is that the general rule of thumb? I'm 6'2" and weight about 270 lbs. Should I be getting a 400lb limit yak?

Purchase nothing shorter than a 12-foot-long, sit-on-top angler's kayak if you plan to fish from a kayak.
You need room and stability. I have a Perception Pescador; works well ! See AUSTIN KAYAK.
I have this boat. Love it. Stable, easy to pedal and maneuver. I'm 74. . .my days of car-topping are over. so I bought a Trailex boat trailer for it.
Pay close attention to the excellent advice given to you by the other contributors who responded to your question.

I'm 73 and done with car-topping my 12 ft. kayak. I bought a Trailex trailer for $1,300. Check them out.
Check out the AVALON 120 (12 FEET, 3 INCHES). I recommend nothing less than 12 feet long. It is a great set-up, and the seat is comfortable. Lots of space for your gear, too. $500 at WalMart.
This is sit-on-top kayak. Don't buy a "sit-in" kayak because they restrict your movement and your vision (the lower you are in the water, the less you will be able to see into the water around you).
I purchased a Pescador Pilot 12 three years ago from Austin Kayak. It's a propeller-driven pedal kayak (no charge for shipping and no sales tax). . . total cost= $1,800. Love it. It's wide and stable with an extremely comfortable seat. I tow it with a kayak trailer. . . 73 years young. . .my days of lifting boats to the top of my vehicle are long gone.
Google Austin Kayak. Check out the Perception Pescador Pilot 12, a pedal kayak. . . .new last week for $1500
