Happy Birthday-Drive on-No surrender
That you don't need to catch fish to have a good time
Good job guy. You are an inspiration to all of us 76 year olds
I look for you every day. Thank you
Drive on!
Be sure to "bleed" them before processing
We called them Sacramento perch
Anywhere along the dam. The back of the forst cove, where the boats are launched
Ask at the bait shop how deep they are-probably less than 10'. Yo-zuris or anything in fire-tiger color. Yellow rooster tails, silver or red castmasters depending on if it is sunny or cloudy
Everyone in the house knew exactly how far they could walk in any direction with that 6' phone cord. Then they came out with a 12' and 25' model. I had a girlfriend who could answer her phone, walk to the bathroom, close the door, and we would have a "private" conversation. That was the epitimy of techonology at the time.
Thanks for the pictures. I grew up in Newark/East Orange in the '50's and have many fond memories of Branch Brook Park. Sleigh riding down the gentle hills when it snowed, enjoying the cherry blossoms and tulips in the spring. If we didn't have anything else planned, every Sunday after Mass the family would take a walk around the park. On a fishing note-my father and mother were both Newark natives. When my dad was 9 years old he and a buddy got ahold of a fishing hook and some string, dug up some worms, and hid in a spot in the bushes that they were sure no one could see, along Branch Brook Lake, and proceeded to fish in the no fishing allowed lake. Three bluegills later a Newark cop showed up. He told them there would be a stiff fine ($1?) for any of the fish that didn't survive. He prayed continuously until the third one flopped away. The cop confiscated their "rig" and sent them home. He was always a strict adherent to all the fish and game laws.
Good pictures, good narative, good weather, good day-good job!
