Good Morning All;
I'm planning to take my kids fishing May 8 2023 to Lake Amador. We'll be fishing off my small aluminum boat. We are planning to do some trolling for trout in the morning and switch to bass in the afternoon. My boat has 2 down riggers I can use if trouts are deep. If you can help me answer some questions I'll really appreciate it:
- What are some of the best lures (and colors) trouts going after while trolling this time of year
- How deep are the trouts
- What is the best time of the day
- What lures are catching bass
- Are bass spawning
Thanks,
Carlos
Ask at the bait shop how deep they are-probably less than 10'. Yo-zuris or anything in fire-tiger color. Yellow rooster tails, silver or red castmasters depending on if it is sunny or cloudy
In years past found using “Ford Fenders” with a bit of a worm on a hook 12-28 inches behind the flashers extremely successful while rowing the boat very slowly.
Or even a small dodger with a light spoon or a wooly bugger. And if your top line trolling just about anything besides a minnow type lure that you want speed up some when trolling with. When trolling away to tell if your going about the right speed or not. Is by keeping an eye on your rod tip you want like a semi- slow rhythmic tic not too fast and not too slow.
