Yes. I think electric is the way to go if you can conveniently make it work

I back pack to fishing spots often and one of the simple things I carry is a can of cold ravioli or chips. What things do you guys like to carry?

Jerky mostly but I like limes or lemons. Cut up your first couple of pan fish, toss ‘em in a baggie with lime juice and onions, and let em marinate for a bit. Homemade ceviche!

I'm not much of a fisherman, but years ago my grandfather mentioned they were gross and had me toss it back.

The reason I'm posting this is because I recently had a talk with my dad about this experience and and a lot of Asian American settlers at the time would stock the lakes with carp... so it's possible that this is true.

Idk, I'm rambling, but I'm wondering what peoples' opinions are on the fish.

When I was a kid (I’m 67 now) I caught a big carp and asked my grandpa if they were good to eat. He smiled wryly and said, “Sure. I’ll give you the recipe. You go out in the field and you get yourself a pile of cow s**t. You stuff the carp with the s**t, wrap it in foil and stick it in a 400 degree oven for half an hour. You take it out, unwrap it, eat the cow s**t and throw away the carp.”

Love the forum. Newly retired from university teaching job. Lake out back of our condo finally getting more of my attention. Mainly pan fish, catfish and a few bass. Thinking of salmon fishing up in Leelenau Peninsula, MI on the Crystal River this month. Tried once before (threw in everything from spinners to eggs) but fish seemed more interested in procreating than eating. Bait suggestions? Again, good to belong.
