Love the forum. Newly retired from university teaching job. Lake out back of our condo finally getting more of my attention. Mainly pan fish, catfish and a few bass. Thinking of salmon fishing up in Leelenau Peninsula, MI on the Crystal River this month. Tried once before (threw in everything from spinners to eggs) but fish seemed more interested in procreating than eating. Bait suggestions? Again, good to belong.

Welcome to the Forum, dbed & DaddyO. DaddyO, the salmon like to get lock jaw this time of the year, but I have caught a lot of them on flies in the streams. Good Luck!

Been fishing here in Northern Mi. for 70 years. If your fishing from the shore try the Boardman river below the weir they put in downtown traverse city or below the damn on the Elk River in Elk Rapids. If your wading try at the mouth of Mitchell Creek. Less fishing pressure. Good luck. Barney
