Check out the California Fish and Game website for fish stocking. Dates and Lakes are listed. Freshwater Fish Stockings are comprised of catfish or trout. Information about the lake or park are also available.
Or you can try saltwater fishing from the beaches, harbors and piers. If you learn to read the water at the beach it can be a productive pursuit.
Or you can try the charter boats. But that is a whole other animal since COVID. The cost is very expensive and the learning curve takes time and heavy equipment is also costly.

I have had 9 different primary care doctors in 3 years. No health equity. I have no say in my healthcare. Anything I say is recorded as the opposite of what I actually said. My provider is Long Beach CA VAMC.
Make no mistake, the VA only advocates for the VA and not Veterans. The VA has effectively destroyed my health and financial standing.
Again I ask you, why are there still 22 Veteran suicides each and every day? Why are some Veterans committing suicide in VA medical centers? Often by shooting themself in the head? Why is there no real task force to combat this trend?
A common mistake of Veterans is to trust VA mental healthcare. Once treated the VA will make sure you are unfit for your own personal care. Then conservatorship. Many homeless veterans have a monthly stipend of $4,000 or more. But the conservator administrator only gives the Veteran 20-30 % to live on.
Or how about the Los Angeles CA VAMC LEASING OUT VA facilities to private enterprise to a sum of $8,000,000 a year while Homeless Veterans are prevented from the LA VAMC campus. That land was donated to Veterans through a trust and not donated to the VA. There are some homeless Veterans sleeping in tents on the LA VAMC CAMPUS. Tents have size restrictions. Wheel chair Veterans have to crawl in their tent and back in their chair because of these restrictions.
Do not get me wrong. I am happy for you but it is past time for Veterans to get their head out of the sand and see the big picture.
What I am telling you is true and have evidence to prove it. T***h to power. My word is the only thing the government can not take away from me. It’s called integrity and I am paying one hell of a price for speaking the t***h.
I will never take a knee to the liberal c*******ts. I will die defending this once great nation and our freedoms before I ever submit to their extortions and tyrannies.

The VA healthcare system has treated, or lack there of, so badly I had to switch to Medicare.
The new administration of government has declared most Veterans like myself as D******c T*******ts. Yes I am now on the FBI D******c T*******t Watchlist which means I have no civil liberties or civil rights.
The DHS and FBI now manage VA healthcare, under the guise of reducing the 22 Veteran suicides each and every day.
It is the 3 agencies that are provoking Veterans to commit suicide.
Fact is the socialist government fears Veterans. Must Veterans v**e conservative, believe in the rule of law, own firearms and have combat/ firearm experience and training.
The VA is now another Gestapo agency of the current administration.
Take C***D for instance. It is designed to purge the military along with any and all political opposition of the Demorat party.
The VA along with the DHS and FBI are nothing more than criminal agencies discriminating against conservatives.
I know because I living the nightmarish hell fabricated misdiagnosis and the withholding of medicine and programs that are needed to heal me from illness and persecution.

The DHS and FBI are in charge, or the regulating authority of Veteran healthcare. They decide Veterans healthcare needs.
The VA by orders of the DHS and FBI have wrongly defined me as something I am not because I am the political opposition to their tyranny.
My driving privileges are suspended because I am not a democrat. Declared bipolar and psychotic without any cognitive testing to prove I am as the VA DHS and FBI claim.
The VA has on multiple occasions with held medicine and federal programs to continue my illegal persecution.
Imagine multiple visits to the VA ER with severe dehydration, blood and urine test levels dangerously close to death and not so much as an IV or medication to restore proper health.
The VA continues to violate its fiduciary and discretionary duties and responsibilities. The VA obstructs, stalls, deceives, denies and sabotages my healthcare to provoke suicide.
95% of all government employees in all agencies, to include federal state county and city employees are registered democrat.

Prado Lake near Corona is a real beast too. I have seen a few transmissions burn up at the boat launch. I have 21’ Skipjack FlyBridge and would never attempt to launch. Its for aluminum boats or trouble is waiting.

I too am planning the move to Tennessee. Will visit my folks late this month into February. Taking care of some personal business for my move. Would like to do some fishing when I arrive. Shipping fishing rods tackle boxes and gear ahead of time. Hope the Stripers are biting. Also hoping to possible fish with members while visiting.

Pan fried is good. Try mixing Frosted Flakes or Cheez-it Crackers with breading.
Try boiled Bluegill. Then chill and serve with cocktail sauce. Tastes like shrimp and the ladies appreciate not smelling up the house.
Cold water Smelt or Trout is also a number one pick.

It’s been 20 years since my last fly-in trip. But I had amassed 15 trips. My go to tackle was night crawler harnesses for walleye and pike. Rapala in various colors. Slow troll and you will be fine. One note, it is against the law to transport night crawlers in dirt. I believe it’s an excuse to set up checkpoints fishing for other crimes. Every trip I encountered a check point.
Try the San Diego knot. The tag end is cinched down in two places. It is a common but tough salt water knot.
A good method to detect proper speed of trolling is to Zig Zag. If most of the fish hit in the inside of the turn decrease your trolling speed. If the fish hits on the outside of a turn then increase trolling speed. Once dialed in you can troll in a straight line at the optimum speed.
For deep water trolling you could use a Dipsy Diver. It is a plastic disk you attach to your line that has a outer rubber and inner line that asks like a shock cord, virtually unbreakable. Your leader attaches opposite of the shock cord. With the Dipsy Diver it has settings that you can manipulate. It also comes with instructions on how much line out equates to depth of lure. But what I like is that you can manually turn the dial and have your line feed away from the boat much like a underwater planet board, so you have more lines in the water and not all directly behind the boat. Vary depths and spread your lines out. Another nice feature is the shock cord comes in a variety of colors and the dusk gas sticker of various colors and patterns to draw attention to your bait be it natural or plastic. I have caught countless fish with the Dipsy Diver. Be sure to read the packaging well to match the rod and reel set up. For years I used an 8’ Ugly Stik medium heavy rod with a Penn Mag 10 and 17# mono. Never had any problems.
Another option is cow bells. Cow bells or a series of blades that act like flashers usually 4 or 5 in line and attached to your line with mono or shock cord. Various color flashers and shock cord as well as the size of flashers.
Lastly there is a flasher or cow bell that is a single large blade. Various colors with or with out shock cord.
All three of these tools add weight to your line to get your bait to deeper depths. They also impart additional lure action.
I recommend all three. They served me well trout fishing in Washington State and on the Great Lakes and inland lakes of Michigan have caught everything from Catfish to Salmon.
Troll artificial bait or live bait.

I live Anaheim and keep my 20 foot Skipjack at the marina in Dana Point. I fished with my kayak a few times a few years back and it became too unnerving. Sharks were harassing myself and other kayakers.
What I can tell you is that there is a pipeline that feeds our into the ocean west ward. It offers structure thus opportunity to catch fish. Also do not neglect fishing near the bait receivers. That is the big floating dock where live bait is is purchased by fisherman and charter boats. There is also a bait receiver in Newport Beach, highly recommend that area because of the sandy bottom and Halibut caught there.
Anyways your best bet is either south near the nuclear plant San Onofre or north near Salt Creek by the Ritz Carlton. You should be able to follow the vegetation line of kelp and seaweed. Fish the ledges. Bait is up to you. Whatever you are comfortable with casting and setting the hook in a kayak.
Lots of Calico Bass in and around the shore and vegetation. Please consider catch and release. Calicos take a long time to grow. The fishery has seen better days.
Most important is checking out the Protected marine areas or face being cited for violation.
To save time you should spend a few mornings observing on land and glassing the locals on kayaks. If they will not speak freely you can always watch what they are doing and where.
