That looks like a good day on the water. A pretty batch of black crappie just looks exciting!

I always have my pocket knife with me if I have pants on me. If I don't have it, you can bet it wore a hole in the bottom of my pocket and fell out. Yes, I keep it sharp!

Thanks for the report; it sure sounds good. Have someone keep feeding her fish and BBQ! She'll be fine! You have a safe trip back home.

Wow, is right. Do you know her name? What her last name use to be?

Sorry about the last name (first was Eve for what that's worth); don't know if I ever heard her last name. About all she told me about the family is that they lived on a farm, she had lots of brothers and sisters, and they were devout Catholics.

Here in Dallas about 35 years ago, I was talking to a lady and learned she was born and grew up in Ralls. She said she was the youngest of 21 siblings. Wow!

Activity in high gear! Bass and sunfish eager to hit surface and slightly subsurface offerings.
Have had good luck with spider imitations and poppers with lots of rubber legs. Sit, then twitch if no hit. Lots of fun on the fly rod!

You just brought back some of my best memories of fishing with my dad! In my early teens we would bass fish; he'd fish with his one 5ft baitcaster (he had four or five plugs) while I paddled the boat around the Cypress tree lined edge of the lake. After a while we would switch and I'd fish while he paddled. Then one of his friends got him excited about fishing popping bugs for bream, so then he got us a single flyrod. For the next few years that was our only fishing method, and again we'd swap time with the flyrod and boat handling. As expected, I eventually got my own rod which I still have today. Thanks for the memories. RIP Dad!

I haven't heard about the poison worms, but I think every reservoir with a dam has a huge catfish myth!

I'm sure a great time was had by all. Thanks for helping make it a success for the kids. We probably won't know for years what an event like this has on a kid's development.

Can I use this in our local paper?

Absolutely "yes"! I feel there are a lot of people who feel the same way, and there are probably a lot more still who would feel the same after being reminded.

I didn't already know I am a 1%'er! I was born in 1940 and remember most all of those facts. I often recall those times and wish today was still like then; i.e., discipline, respect, patriotism, simplicity and accountability. But, at the same time, I am happy to have a lot of the conveniences today that weren't available then.
