Spirit no they are not, what wave action is a ripple and they can move the whole 30' up or down as you spoke of but that's only twice a year just as Inchon's are. As you may well know is that Inchon was chosen because of the tides being such that know one would believe the US would attempt a landing there, they had a very short time to get everyone ashore on the high tide. By the way I was there in 1969 on R & R i wished to see where my father went ashore in that ordeal.

I need info on kayak fishing in Kino Bay

Google Sea of Cortez fishing, and it will take you to all information available, you can get a tide chart of the Sea of Cortez also, that will show the highs and lows by the hour and they are extremely accurate. There put out by one of the colleges there in Arizona. By the way the tide flow in the Sea of Cortez is the exact opposite of that at Inchon Korea. The high there is the low at the others location and vice versa.

I want to take my son fishing for trout for the first time. Lake Cachuma looks like our best bet for a two night camp and fish. Can you catch trout in December in Lake Cachuma from the shore?
Thanks.

dmc.

Sure you can or you can rent boat there also, or at least the last time we went there.

thank you so much Robert, i usually drive down to Cherokee NC where we used to camp during the summers, way over crowded today. But the streams are the same with the trout being mostly stockers nowadays, not what is was like in the 50's but I enjoy. Met the family that's been running the camp grounds we used to stay in, they want let me me pay when I'm there so i usually take them out to a nice dinner. My email is bill@rbeeng.com should you see something come in in the next day or two as I'm sure I'll be writing to you, till then thank you.

On Veterans Day, this Vietnam Vet wants others to know: ‘You are not alone’

‘I consider it an honor to remember'

Written by Maureen Mackey

As the nation celebrates Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11, Richard Pecci, 75, a member of the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame, says he considers it an honor to remember all the friends he served with in Vietnam.

Many of those battlefield friends have sadly died by now, he said.

"I consider it an honor to remember, but to this day I have failed to grieve for the friends I’ve lost because in my mind they still live," said Pecci. "Yet I have been true to my word. I will not forget."

"I am very proud that I served my country, that I fought to protect our freedom today," he also said. "I have always felt that way."

Born in 1946 in Queens, New York, Pecci was drafted at age 20 and began basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Six months later, he joined the elite 17th Air Cavalry unit at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

"The darkness we speak of is not the darkness everyone else sees. Ours is more of a dusky haze that clouds our emotions. It’s a spirit that can take us from contentment to sadness in a heartbeat." — Veteran Richard Pecci.

In 1967, he was sent by ship, the USS Walker, to Vietnam as an infantryman. The 3rd Squadron 17th Air Cavalry unit’s main effort was enemy search-and-destroy missions, plus convoy support, he said. He served in reconnaissance and infantry.

Specialist Fourth Class Pecci possessed such superb skills in weaponry as a young man that he was often assigned to solo missions on the ground in war zones, sometimes for days at a time, according to documents prepared for his nomination to the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame in 2018.

Today, Pecci serves as commander of his local American Legion post, Admiral Farrugut Post 1195 in Hastings-on-Hudson. After he returned from military service, he worked in food service, mail distribution and production for 38 years at The New York Times, from which he retired.

Pecci and his wife, Linda, have lived for decades in the lower Hudson Valley, where they raised their son, Michael. Pecci has been active in veterans’ memorials, activities, parades and other key events for veterans and military in his upstate New York hometown for many years.

" ‘Moving on’ is not and has never been an option for most of us. I applaud those who have been able to put [their combat experiences] behind them. Personally, I keep expecting the dam to break one day, but so far it has only trickled down in the quiet hours. One day I’ll be able to put it down—and that day will be when they put me in the ground."

He added, "I know some just don’t get why we as Vietnam veterans or any combat veterans always speak of ‘dark days’ and ‘sleepless nights.’ There is just no way to explain it to anyone who has not been in a hostile war environment."

"There’s not an explanation in the world to bring to light the loss of a friend who has died on foreign soil," he also said. "In an instant a life is removed from us. And in a lifetime, we can never forget that loss."

Pecci went on, "We were kids planted in the middle of a war, and as kids our loyalties ran deep. We were still innocent and unknowing when we stepped into war. We were unprepared for what would be required for us to survive."

In a sentiment that’s often shared by many other combat veterans, Pecci noted, "The darkness we speak of is not the darkness everyone else sees. Ours is more of a dusky haze that clouds our emotions. It’s a spirit that can take us from contentment to sadness in a heartbeat. It can be brought on by most anything. And it often is."

He added, "So when we speak of this, we speak of memories and a broken spirit, a darkness that seals our souls up for a time. Sure—we will snap out of it and return to what we call ‘normality’ for a while. But what we have been through is a life-changing experience. When you see the blank look or the tear, when you see the silence that has overtaken us," he advised, "just realize that this is the darkness we speak of."

He said that from time to time, people will ask him, "When were you in Vietnam?" He said that no matter how many years have passed since his service, his answer always feels like it should be, "Every day."

"Please don’t think that the things we say are just a robotic reply to gain attention," Pecci also said. "We’re not looking for sympathy — just understanding. And if you can’t understand what we mean, then just walk away. That’s a privilege that we as veterans don’t have."

"I hope my comments help those who have misunderstood us. I also hope it helps all those who have been there and ‘get it.’ For those who have served and ‘been there,’" he said, "I want them to know that you are not alone."

May would be the last day for summer down there it gets some kinda hot, October through April the weathers fantastic most days no coats needed nights will get cold. May thru end of September I head to Ensenada the onshore breeze keeps the weather bearable. Right now my Compadre is staying in my Casa in San Felipe he'll be there until about December maybe into January depending on when they cut off the shrimp, he's a fish/shrimp broker for Ensenada. When I'm in Ensenada I have a room in his Casa, but I know when I get to San Felipe they'll be 30-40 pounds of shrimp in single pound packaging in my freezer, that'll gets me through the time I'll be there, YES I LOVE MEXICO!

Jarhead, I'm semi retired here at 70 and spend about three months a year there and two in Ensenada. My Compadre and I have fished the entire Baja from Tijuana top Cabo all along the coast then the Sea of Cortez back up to San Felipe. University of Arizona puts a tide chart calendar out that provides the tides for the Sea of Cortez which is extremely useful that even the fishermen of San Felipe rely on. A little history the tide is the exact opposite than the tide at Inchon Korea. I'll be in San Felipe December 30 thru April this coming year, best fishing there is between October an March-April, right now the shrimp are being Harvested and they are some kind of good! Should you make it down there all the fishermen know where the sunken barkos (old fishing boats) are located for some fantastic corbina which i this is one of the best eating fish in the Sea.

Never heard of it but we'll know soon enough, just sent my Compadre in Ensenada a query about Castro's. i know of none in San Felipe. You sound familiar with San Felipe, I have a CASA on the cliffs 300 yards north of the light house that i started putting together in 1968, when San Felipe was a one horse town.
