Hey guys, wanting some opinions here (dangerous I know). Do you think the afternoon 10am-2pm with a rising tide (which I thought was good) can be as productive as morning or evening at low tide? Or is it a commonly accepted knowledge the bite is normally better in the early morning or late evening? Do you think it makes a difference if there are a bunch of people swimming/boarding near by? What are surf fish doing as the sun hits its peak?
Awesome!!! thanks Larry. I thought they were still hiding the dates because of COVID. Which beaches have you had luck with in the past? I’m over in the manhattan beach general area but I would definitely drive a little if needed to find them.
Hey guys! I took my boy fishing early Sunday morning before church and we both caught a couple Stingrays. He caught about a 12” Round Stingray and I caught a 23” Horned Stingray. It was a huge blessing and relief to finally catch something.
I didn’t really know if you could eat them or not so after taking them home and watching a couple YouTube videos we realized these were the wrong kind to really get any meat. But we did our best and got a couple nibbles off. If nothing else to say we tried to be good stewards of our catch. Next time we’ll know to just throw’em back.
Hopefully my fishing luck only gets better from here.
Anyone know when the Grunion run is happening? Am I too late? I just saw it on YouTube and it liked something fun to take the kids to
Will do thanks @SpiritOf27
Besides worms and sand crabs what other bait could you use? And what size hook do you suggest, 4 or 6 or even smaller?
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Sounds like I should definitely start fishing the ocean. I'll make this my new objective for this weekend. I'll look into the barge, @Jeremy, it can't get any worse. I need to pick up some gear from a local fishing store so I'll ask some questions. Thanks again guys look forward to learning from yall.
Howdy gentlemen. New to the forum here. I've started exploring strange land of LA county fishing which is completely different for a backwoods Kentucky boy. The last 5 outings of fishing with wife, kids have ended with zero bites and zero fish. I've only explored lakes and park ponds. I'm getting an itch for venturing out into the ocean. The kids are pretty discouraged with the freshwater and so am I. I look forward to learning from the network of greybeards and wiseguys here at the Stage. Take care and good luck.
