Anyone know when the Grunion run is happening? Am I too late? I just saw it on YouTube and it liked something fun to take the kids to
Ask Larry Tomorrow he will be on here and probably respond. Really cool guy he sent us pictures on here before he is in San Diego roughly

I'm not sure when the next run is.
I haven't heard about anyone talking about the next run.
It's hit and miss on what beaches they will show up at.
A fishing licences is required and hands only for catching them.
Good luck.

I used Google, Grunion Run schedule in the Los Angeles area.
Edible or just caught for bait?
Awesome!!! thanks Larry. I thought they were still hiding the dates because of COVID. Which beaches have you had luck with in the past? I’m over in the manhattan beach general area but I would definitely drive a little if needed to find them.
I have always wanted to do this, but hard to find an beach that is open at night. I'd love to hear of suggested locations from someone with knowledge.

It's been about 50 years since I went. LOL.
It's hit and miss where they will show up.
Google where I said that I found this information.
They also showed different beaches.
Good luck.

You can eat them, just too much trouble in my opinion.
Most people who I know just freeze them for bait.
I went a few years back. San Pedro is best by the pier. Prob. is parking. Lots are all closed. You can park in the streets which is literally the neighborhood right up from the beach but thats where all the residents seem to park..on the street :( I recall catching 244 one I had s neighborhood fish fry. Last year about 50. One day...the grunions never showed and we waited 2 hrs past the scheduled time. So..you just have to be prepared for worst...."no shows"
They usually have runs at Huntington State Beach and Bolsa Chica. You can call them as they offer some guided tours too where they tell you info about grunions. You have to rsvp though. Again..the parking lots close at 9 pm and the runs are ususlly after that time. Have fun!
