Went to the pond for the first time in a couple of weeks and it was worth the wait. First cast and I landed my best yet, 5 lbs!! Got a few more decent ones after that, all on a weightless Texas rigged green pumpkin/purple flake senko. Ahhhh, fishing therapy is the best. 😁🎣🎣😁

Beautiful fish Betts. Congrats on PB

Sounds like a nice day Fred. I know you would have wanted to catch more, but you always catch something. It seems like it has been a rough year, both size and quantity. Have a good week buddy

Gonna head up to Bigelow Hollow state park tomorrow. Going to fish the only part of the lake I've never fished, the east side. It's an interesting combination of steep banks, shallow coves and flats, and a couple long main lake points.
I'm going to change up the initial salvo as well, and go with a baitfish themed attack.
Buzz Toad, Bluegill swim jig/Blade Minnow trailer, Green Pumpkin Salt Tube, Pumpkinseed rattling Squarebill, Silver /Black ShadowRap jerkbait, and White Ice Jerkshad.
We'll see if this approach results in bigger returns. I will do my best not to return to throwing a worm, for as long as humanly possible.
Report will follow in the afternoon.
Gonna head up to Bigelow Hollow state park tomorro... (show quote)

Good luck and have a great day Fred. Interesting change of strategy for you, sure hope it works out. I have confidence that it will. Wave on your way home when you pass exit 62. Have fun my friend

Well, I suppose I am an expert at stumbling upon organizations that I never knew existed before, but have once I found them thoroughly enjoyed participating, such as Fishing Forum/Stages! Whether my presence has been welcomed by you as members or not, at least I have enjoyed the Hell out of my time so far.

Now, I suspect what I am about to introduce you members of the Forum may be already known, but this organization wasn’t known to me until this year and that is the NFLCC, or National Fishing Lure Collectors Clubs.

Let me explain my ‘stumbling and discovering’ technique. I was surfing on Facebook and came across a young man, Blake Taylor, who was the chairman of the Southwest Region’s chapter of NFLCC. He is a very young chap, but a seasoned professional collector of lures, especially Bomber Baits, which has a special interest to me. He invited me to their trade show in Temple, Texas and it was a blast.

I cannot describe just how amazing this was with the different collectors of lures, tackle, and such that were exhibiting there. And these events are also present all across the U.S. in different regions. You do not have to be an exhibitor to go and soak up the lore and be amazed at the knowledge of fishing lure history. Believe me, it will amaze the most wizened fisherman!

Here is the contact information, I am not charging a cent for sharing, but I will wager you will be surprised if you haven’t already been introduced to this cult of fishing lure collectors.
