Hehe - they sure make a noise, don't they. I'll have to catch one of the DNR's and see what they stocked it with and ask about the carp. Will let you all know.
I could see some type of flying insects kissing the top of the water and could hear plenty of frogs for natural baits. Sure wish I had my dang poles.
The Fishing Points app showed the highest fishing activity I've ever seen on that thing. Maybe its the super moon. Anyways, we were out for a hike and stopped by a small lake in White GA. Fish were literally jumping. What kind of freshwater, not just strike the surface, but jump out of the water? From what I understand, there's just crappy and a few small bass in there. Do they do that?
Sand fleas on a pompano rig works great. You will need a sand flea rake.
...and plenty of sharks and sting rays to steal your bait and bend your rod real good. Looking forward to hearing about your trip when you get back. You're going to love it there.
Fish near shore around the islands on the gulf side with a pompano rig and sand fleas or fish bites for bait. Fish troughs near sand bars.. Look forward to reds, whiting, drum, sheepshead and pompano. Have fun!
Fish like them. Hard to get off your hook, though because there is a fabric embedded in them.
If your worms are too lively and crawl back off your hook before you're finished threading it on, try putting the container on ice. The cold will slow them down so you can handle easier. Once they hit the water they will warm up and get wiggly again.
Can you get down to Sarasota? Lots of mangrove islands down yonder. How about Newport Richey? Fish around the mouths of canals.
Permits are great and wonderful but I think pompano is the best fish in the sea.
Wait wait! That looks like a permit.
I used to live in Satellite Beach once upon a time. The river was a great place for spotted trout back then.
