Head up to the cross florida barge canal just north of Crystal River, great bank fishing. Lake Rousseau another good spot.

That's a red grouper. Looks legal to me. Who said it was a gag?

I won the Basspro model in a raffle at the fishing club Christmas party before the virus. Still in the box. The ones I have used in remote areas, like boat ramps at tournaments, work well and add a visual aspect to the weigh-in/fish fry.

Contrasting colors (not blue or green) are applied to help in locating capsized vessels in open water. Safety is paramount on the water when we are at a disadvantage not breathing water.

I wear an old pair of sneakers until the sole falls off with my sock foot waders. On the boat I do the same. Good reuse for smelly old shoes. Costs about nothing. Good traction.

Red tide cleared up. Use your longest spinning rig. Shrimp is available. Plenty of whitebait and pinfish around on the bayside. A sputnik or spider weight will help you cast long and grab the bottom. Bring a camping chair and a sand spike to hold your rod. Rubber paddletails in white and zara spooks in bone work well. Fish in the trough just off the beach. Good luck. I live here fulltime.

You can freeze the worms and them and use them later.

Can anyone recommend a good headlamp. I bought a rechargeable one off Amazon and it stopped working after 2 charges.

--overreact triple a 5 way headlamp has served me well for several years. I have two. The manufacturer sent a replacement when the first one quit after about 12 months. That impressed me. I also use a Klein rechargeable at work , very bright with good battery life.

For any who are a licensed Captain or maybe in the Insurance business, my question is this:

What kind of increase in premiums could be expected over a full coverage policy if an OUPV Captains license is obtained and paying customers are aboard your boat? I understand the additional risk of customers, but also being trained and licensed helps to lower risk. I am aware that some companies will not even consider the policy.

Just beginning to put a new flock of ducks in a row and this was being bounced between my ears last night!

Doug- In Florida, I pay approximately 12X what I paid for my private pleasure boat insurance thru Progressive for OUPV boat insurance coverage. Go to https://www.nacocharters.org/ for more information. This is the National Assoc. of Charter Boat Captains and has an insurance company specializing in OUPV insurance as a sponsor. If you have not already done so, look at all the requirements for OUPV (6Pack) including membership in a drug testing consortium. They can be found on the USCG website at www.dco.uscg.mil/nmc/charter_boat_captain/. Charlie@C Life Charters

Can anyone tell me if Canyon Lake Arizona is open for public fishing?

Canyon,Apache, and Sajuarro are all open to the public. A small fee is required at established parking areas. Fish the coves in Canyon and Sajuarro all the way up to the dam, with spinnerbaits, plastics and live crawlers. Beautiful scenery, like floating the Grand Canyon. Watch for the herd of bighorn sheep and eagles. Roosevelt is the big water and has better bass.
