Wow, last time I was at lake was over 30 year's ago. I use to go all the time and always scored my limit. It use to be a awesome bass lake, my best bass out of the was 15lb9oz.
Use to be you could rent a boat with a 5hp motor all day for 20 bucks and afterwards go to the small cafe for catfish and hush puppies πŸ‘
I should go back some day and see what's changed.

Definitely go with the fluorocarbon, and I have put a split shot by the head of the nymph and was successful.

Nice going,
Glad you're able to get out and get your rod bent. A lot of us are still itching to hit the water's.

Hi Troy, welcome to the Forum. This Forum has over 16,000 members and it is worldwide, a lot of them are from CA., but I don't know if we have anyone from around Littlerock, CA. We'll see.

Yeah Fin and Feather lake is a private membership only and very expensive to join. It's in Palmdale by the 14fwy.
Since you're in Little rock you might look up Jackson lake by Wrightwood, it's small but I got my limit of trout there using a white sonic roostertail.
Or maybe try Silverwood lake, Mammoth lakes won't open until June 1st instead of this month.
Good luck

Here's a couple pictures of my smoker setup with the cats smoking away. Wife says if those things smell as bad as you don't DONT bring them in the house.!! Little does she know the kitchen is mine and they're already in. Ha ha. Yeah I know I get a little smokey but to me it's well worth it!

Smoked fish is the best!
Love to smoke my trout and especially salmon.
I make a sweet style brine and let it marinate overnight in the fridge and then smoke it with apple wood from my apple tree's.
It'll have a nice glaze to it and comes out with a hint of a candy taste and not a salt lick.
I'll do it with trout and tuna as well.
Never seem to have left overs lol

was a very beautiful day yesturday.. and so busy.. hadnt been out for about 2 weeks.. trying my social distancing.. didnt catch anything tho.. that sucked..

Looks like it was a beautiful day, to bad no fish.
A buddy of mine had a boat and we would troll along the jetty for calico bass. We would go about a hour before sunset and a hour afterwards using plastic jigs with squid and toss them into the base of the rocks and water line and get hit like crazy.
Legal size was 12 inches and the majority we caught were 11 and 3/4 inches lol. But it was such a blast.
Hope you do better next time but just getting out and enjoying the water is a plus πŸ‘

Nice looking fish, someone has supperπŸ‘
I know the lake and the town as I enjoy fishing the Kern river. The wife and I were there last week and with this virus going on Kernville looked like a ghost town.
We took a drive around the entire lake and I kept telling the wife that I should have brought one of my rods. It'll be nice when they finish working on the damn.

Most of the rivers and streams up here are closed. I am itching for the end of April and snow melt.

Well that's really a shame being closed and all.
I go up to bishop and mammoth with my boys usually in June. The water's up there normally open at the end of April as well but it turns into a nightmare on opening day so we wait a good month so things calm down. Then we'll go once or twice a month until October.
We'll hit the Kern to keep in tune and if we catch fish it's a bonus.
I know what you mean about getting the itch to go out and fish.

Is the Kern open to fishing? Hard to keep track, so I just figure they're all closed til the April opener.

Yes sir it is, it's open year round and one section strictly for fly fishing but barbless and catch and release only.

I read that also Spirit,
At least a lot of the water's are still open. Been thinking about hitting up sections of the Kern river and try some of the flies I've tied with this down time. Can't catch fish if one doesn't go fishing. πŸ˜‰
