Where we are from, we always catch and release, but you can keep them. We bass fish for fun and we always throw back in hopes of those slow days we can catch them again!!

Haha. I used a bait caster once and did the same thing. I threw it back in my fishing tackle. I use spinning rod only. We only use Abu Garcia. In my opinion it is the best.
Good luck and send pics.

That is correct. Lots of boat docks where bass like to spawn and ambush. Great lake to fish.

On the lake now. Already have 4 bass. Light drizzle here but should clear. Under an empty boat dock right now as the rain has picked up a little. 60 here in NC with a high of 70.
As an Assistant Principal at a middle school here in NC are schools have been closed since March 16. May 15 is the date they have given us, tentatively, as to when schools should reopen? Surely to goodness I wouldn’t think they would reopen for 3 weeks then out for summer break?
Thoughts?
Stay safe and good luck to everyone on the water today!!

Priceless memories. Makes me smile when I read ur post. I’ve done the same types of things, and still do!! I taught my son to love fishing and now he out fishes me every time we go. He lets me know it too!! I wouldn’t trade those times for anything. He’s been my fishing partner for the past 12 years. We bank fished together when he was about 6 years old. I did more fishing while he explored and threw rocks at my bobbers. The older he got the more interested he became, and then the bank fishing turned into a small Glasstream fishing boat. The bigger he got the smaller the boat became. Now we fish from a Ranger and he takes more pride in that boat than he does anything else. He is a freshman at East Carolina University out on the coast of NC. He’s been home since this Corona as schools have become online. We fish every chance we get. He knows I don’t go without him.
Keep making those memories.
Keep catching those fish!!
Take care.

Haha. Good people in NC. We fished lake hickory about 2 weeks ago and caught 1 bass at 730 in the morning and then caught nothing else ALL DAY. Very disappointing. Beautiful lake. Green water. We live about an hour from lake hickory. Don’t fish it very often and after that experience don’t see ourselves going back anytime soon.
Good luck and stay well!

For those of you still able and wanting to get out to fish, boat ramps in NC are still open for bass fishing in the Piedmont area.
My son and I went out on Lake Norman yesterday and bass fished ALL DAY yesterday. It was wonderful. We caught about 20 bass. Water temp was anywhere from 59-65 degrees with the bass hitting on flukes, worms, spinnerbaits, jigs, and crank baits. No bass over 2lbs, but those little boogers pulled and fought like crazy. It was great to be on the water, and great to see others out there enjoying the outdoors. Air temps were about 48 in the am, but reached a high of 74. We got out there at 7am and came back to the boat ramp at 7pm.
A great day of fishing with my son.
Take care and stay well!!
