Does anyone have any information regarding Cobbs Creek Reservoir, in Cumberland, VA ? It is a reservoir that draws water from the James River and pumps it back during low water conditions. It was supposed to be completed and filled by fall 2023.

Hello, does anyone have current information on Cobbs Creek Reservoir, Cumberland, VA ? It's a new reservoir off of the James River. Was supposed to be completed last year. I can't find anything with the current status.

Fish early and late. Rec boats take over the lake. For stripers try dike 3 with jumbo minnows.

Smith mountain lake Virginia

Best way to learn is hire a guide. I'd recommend Travis with Cats and Stripes. He's great. Last time out with him caught 2, 32" stripers and a 45" MUSKY.

I have heard of that area but never fished it. Read previous reports about guys catching striper in Bull Run. I have always fished from B&B and up river. Good luck.

Hello from Smith Mountain lake

Welcome Ballhawg. I fish SML quite a bit. My PB is a 38" striper. I don't catch many but love every trip there. I'm 2-1/5 hours away. This time of year the upper part of lake is best. The best bait is native gizzards which I have a difficult time catching.

I live near Lake Chesdin and also want to fish it more. Only thing I've caught from James is catfish. Got a couple of 50 lb'ers.

Canadian fishing trip

I was at Marmac Lodge on Esnagi Lake last summer. It was the best fishing trip of my life ! We caught so many walleye and pike in 5 days to last a life time. And the trip getting there was just as much fun. I also live in VA near Richmond. You gotta go there !

Hi all. Anyone familiar with Smith Mt Lake, VA. I fish it a bit for stripers. Not having much luck. Assuming its because I can't catch shad with cast net. Anyone have luck with jumbo shiners ?
