Canadian fishing trip
I would like suggestions for a bucket list fishing trip into Canada. I live near the coast in Virginia and want to try some freshwater fishing up north after the coronavirus travel restrictions ease up. Cost is always a factor and I wouldn't need/want a guide every day but would need to rent a boat.
Brian you may be in luck. We have 1 Canada user that is listed in Ontario. His user name is Greenjeans if you want to Pm him for info.
Good Luck on your venture and please pics sent back to us.
Brian we would all like to know where you're at, so if you would, please go back into your profile and put your city and state into the "location" field. About 55 years ago I and a group of my friends made a trip up to the Minnesota/Ontario boundary waters for a canoe trip into the wilderness. Fabulous. Chrystal blue water, clean air, fantastic fishing for pike and small mouth. It's probably all changed now, but it would certainly merit looking into. We went through Grand Marais, Minnesota along the Gunflint trail to Gunflint Outfitters where we rented canoes. It was the trip of a lifetime.
Look on line for Rainbow Country ,Ont, Canada.they can send you a booklet that has all kinds of outfitters and resorts with what they have to offer
I believe flyguy has been up there more recently than I, he lives in Minnesota, and he could tell you more about how it is now than I can. You can PM him if he doesn't jump in here.
I was at Marmac Lodge on Esnagi Lake last summer. It was the best fishing trip of my life ! We caught so many walleye and pike in 5 days to last a life time. And the trip getting there was just as much fun. I also live in VA near Richmond. You gotta go there !
KaBeelo Lodge at KaBeelolodge.com. Been going since 1988 and one of the best fishing trips you can take. It is a fly in and they furnish everything except bait. Remote cabin on lake all by your self with boats and motors. Not sure your budget, but this place is the real deal. Last year 5 guys fished for 5 days and caught 1543 walleye with 70 over 20 inches. We do that every year.

Regardless of where you go, make sure to hire a guide for a day or two because fishing is very different up there than it is in the lower 48. It's not so much about where to go, but the techniques you need to succeed. My first trip up there I fished for the better part of a week before I caught anything worth talking about. Finally took a guide out for a day, found out how different my retrieve needed to be and than killed it from there on out. Worth every penny! Good luck!
I have used Morthwest Flying @gmail.com They fly out of Nester Falls Ontario and have 6 outposts. No guides needed and boats and motors are included. I have used them many times. Was scheduled this year in early June but I think that might be cancelled. If you call them at 807 484-2126, ask for Sean and tell him that Jake and Ron sent you. Good luck.

Fishing for northerns is unbelievably good in Ontario. Used to do it north of the 'Soo' aka Saulte Ste. Marie. Be advised that mosquitos and black flies can eat you alive so get repellant and head netting. We used to drive 20 to 30 miles north and turn off on old logging roads, stopping at ponds. No trout, no walleye just northerns and rock bass.
Location was always there in my profile.
