Haven't seen this one before. Anyone else get it?

Did you check the email address of the sender? You can use that to determine if it is legit or not. For example, if you use apple iCloud you have a 5GB limit. If you exceed that, you will either need to delete stuff or buy more storage or something will stop working.

Apple emails will have apple.com or iCloud.net endings. I would check this before clicking on any link.

My opinion is that this is a phishing email trying to get personal information from you. Apple has an iCloud+ service, not a cloud+ service.

Typically find them in the backs of bays. I would not expect to find them on the open water reefs. There's a million places to find them and fishing is usually pretty good at this time of the year. I would try trolling crank baits (like hot'n tots). I would also use a leader to avoid bites offs from monster toothy critters as they are usually in the same places.

I use a black cast iron pan. It really holds the heat well. Oil temperature is about 350°.

Question for MuskyHunter

What temperature are we seeing on our Sonar Transducer?

That is still just the temperature in the upper foot of water.

Keep in mind that this does not really reflect the temperature of the water you are fishing in unless you are using topwaters. After the second foot or so, the water temperature will not change much during the day unless it is really windy. This is a surface water temperature only which is highly influenced by light and air temperature.

Fish are cold blooded. That means they are MORE active as water temperature increases - up to a point - in some places the water temperature may get too warm and injure or kill fish.

Keep in mind the temperature at the surface and down several feet in a lake that stratifies (area of water know as the epilimnion) will have a relatively constant temperature throughout the layer. If the lake is deep enough to stratify, the next layer will feature declining temperatures until it reaches a depth where the water can no longer mix from winds, etc. Then the bottom layer is called the hypolimnion and the temperature of that layer will be constant all the way to the bottom.

I point this out because the fish may find their favorite temperature in the thermocline.

We had a 94% eclipse, it pretty much went black at the peak for a few moments.

Being a very old guy, I have had many reels...Mitchell 300, 308, all manner of Daiwas (which I found to be very nice reels and still have after many years of use), but far and away the very best I have ever owned are the Shimano Stradics (which are quite expensive). These have been replaced by the Vanford reels and they have an even higher line (which really cost an arm and a leg). I cannot see them getting better than the Stradics.

To all of you who have prayed us thru this ordeal my heartfelt thanks. We truly have become a family here. Ezra had a full spectrum EKG this week. His heart is functioning normally and his blood flow is optimum. His pressures are fine and there is no sign of infection. His wound is healing and the new valve is working the way it is supposed to. He has a very minor amount of leakage at the valve but it is not an issue of concern. It should take care of itself. He is expected to stay on a restricted activity level for awhile longer but should be back to 100% in 6 months. Thank to all of you from Ezra, Samantha (mom) and I….

Recently, I posted a story about what grandfathers' might give their college graduating grandson. It went on to mention the gift of a Montblanc pen!

Almost immediately, Montblank posted one or more articles about how grand and exclusive their pens were.

Now before my article, I do not believe there was ever any mention of Montblanc writing instruments!

So, how do you suppose they knew about my article? Was it 'cookies'? or some other subversive monitoring of our stories? I am curious about what transpired here. Are there ways for companies to constantly monitor our communications? Just Sayin...RJS

This is known as cross site tracking and is done via cookies. To me it is really irritating. Some websites give you the ability to turn off all, but the cookies that are required for website operation. Other sites do not. If you turn this off, a cookie will be left in your cache that instructs the website not to do cross site tracking. This is a per website setting so you will have to do this on each website that allows you to. If you clear your cache, you will clear these settings.

If you are lucky enough to have an Apple computer, and you are using the Safari browser, they have a setting that totally disables cross site tracking independent of the website and remains set even after you clear the cache. I have this set and never see that behavior any more. I still get ads, but they are just dumb ads. Google lost a bit of revenue after Apple did this because they get paid more when the ads are specifically targeted.

My Motor Guide came with a 3 blade prop. I just wish it had a little bit bigger diameter.

Bigger diameter takes more power to turn. There is a science to sizing blades for optimal performance. If you look at airplanes with props, when a two blade is replaced with a three blade, the diameter is always considerably smaller.

For sure, the three blade with the smaller diameter will generate less noise (vibration).

I am not sure about this for boat props, but the surface area of the three blade with the smaller diameter is probably close to the surface area of the two blade with the larger diameter.

I had to replace my old minn kota for my jon boat. I bought a c4 endura. The oem prop is a 2 blade. I found a company that makes 3 blade props for trolling motors called kipawa. They say it gives 10 =15% more speed, and less power to run, and my motor will actually move in reverse.

I have always replaced my trolling motor props with Kipawa props. The motors run through weeds better and also run a little faster at full throttle and quite as well.

Anyone know of any place where the fish are biting around the Twin Cities right now? A good, on-shore, place would be nice.

Thanks.

There is limited fishing available right now in MN. You can fish crappie, perch, bullhead and sunfish. If I were going out now (and is probably still too early, I would go to the boat launch on Lake Harriet. This is an early season haven for crappies (if the water is warm enough).
