Have never fished first week of June and how temps play on the spawn cycle. Info needed. thank you.
When we had a cabin in Ignace, ONT, we always went for two weeks starting Memorial Day weekend. We usually did really well on the Walleye. It was all post spawn, I think, as I don't remember ever finding eggs in them. Smallmouth were usually post spawn as well, I think.
Typically find them in the backs of bays. I would not expect to find them on the open water reefs. There's a million places to find them and fishing is usually pretty good at this time of the year. I would try trolling crank baits (like hot'n tots). I would also use a leader to avoid bites offs from monster toothy critters as they are usually in the same places.
Thanks for the reply and a closer look at Hot tee tots.
