Remember the foot starter button also.
What about vacuum wipers.
Step on the gas n the wipers quit.
All the fun things we grew up with.
The wing vents came in handy for smokers 👍.

Re. the wing vents, we used to call them "butterfly windows" They were better than A/C in the summer - you could point the breeze right at your face, they cleaned off the inside of the windshield better than the defroster and you could get a little air in winter without freezing.

No. I guess I was surprised by his reaction. Maybe his son and daughter had told him the same thing at another time. It’s not the Leave it to Beaver world that a lot of us remember

You proved that, thankfully, there are still "Cleavers" in this world although it seems like even Eddie Haskells would be welcome these days.

How many of you went to 6th grade camp? I don’t know if they still do it? We went there in 1955 or 56 and they had a juke box in the dinning hall, and on it was the song that Little Richard did originally called tutti-frutti but it was sung by Pat Boone, yuk!! Google Pat Boone singing it and then Little Richard. Richard was a little weird but he could rock and roll!! Long live rock and roll and heavy metal. I’ll never be too old to listen to good Rock and Heavy Metal. Never really got into country even though I’ve lived in the country areas of San Diego for 50 years, far from the city of east SD that I grew up in. We don’t have any homeless in Alpine but 10 miles west all the way to the ocean it’s out of control.

There was still segregation in the 50's. There were "white" stations and "black" stations. When a "black" song became popular, it would be "covered" by a "white" singer/group so that it could be played on the "white" stations. Pat Boone also covered Fats Domino's Blueberry Hill. Many times the lyrics were also "modified". R&R was said to be "white man's words with black man's music". Thanks to people like Wolfman Jack for broadcasting from acoss the border so we could all hear all the music.

Hi,
New to the area of Queens/Western LI. Originally from the Bronx, then Putnam County, and now in Queens.
Have fished most of my life but mostly freshwater so trying to get a handle on where to start with saltwater fishing in the area.

I know about most of the charters but think I'm more interested in finding cool, and hopefully somewhat productive, places to fish from shore, either surf or piers.

I know about Jones Beach's pier at Field 10 thou I've never fished it. Is it worth it? How is the bait shop there? What kind of fish can I somewhat expect at what times of the year? Any tips as far as live bait or lures.
Would be more interested in accessible places to fish from shore / surf casting.

Any info would be greatly appreciated and used!!

THANKS in advance

Gary

Back in the 60's I used to fish at Captree on the fishing pier (parallelto the shore). You can also try Shinnecock canal when the locks are closed. The flounder line up waiting for the gates to open. It used to be just a place to park but then it became more "modernized". Parking spaces, sidewalks, dining trucks, bathrooms, etc. Too bad. As I recall, it's sandworms on the south shore and bloodworms on the north shore of L.I.

I was sitting at Dunkin Donuts drinking coffee when a man came in with his granddaughter who was around 3 years old. She was running around unsupervised while he was ordering at the counter. At one point she was half way out the door when a woman coming in turned her around. As a grandfather myself I was horrified by this. I got up to leave as he was leaving and on the way out I commented on how cute his granddaughter was and how maybe he should keep a closer eye on her explaining how she almost made it out the door. He was visibly upset by my comment.
My question—other than possibly putting myself in harms way….
Was I right?

3. hat's an oldie. Nwewr ones charged $0.25.
5. Mine faded away. It was just called a vaccination mark, but nobody ever said what we were vaccinared against. Smallpox judging by the scar.
6. Who was given ice? We were just told to rub dirt on it.
7. High Beam switch. Old joke: Why aren't (insert any group here) allowed to drive new cars at night? Because they keep getting their foot caught in the steering wheel!
9. Clue. Just ask Professor Plum.

Hello stagers,
Today's trivia has to do with our feathered friends.
What bird, native to the United States, is the most common?
Many of the backyard birds 🐦 that frequent feeders are non native species.
I'm looking for the most common native species here.
I'm hoping to see a lot of soaring answers 🙏

I hope this goes through. I was typing an answer and all of a sudden everthing disappeared. It took about 40 minutes to find this post again. I was saying that I heve never seen a robin at a bird feeder or suet cake. my guess would be a cardinal. I see a lot of them in my yard.

Today OJ’s fate has finally come! Most of us know where he’s spending his here after? God knows whether he was guilty or not. If there is really a place called Hell that’s probably where he will be. Just my opinion! What’s yours?? Agree or disagree?

I guess the "real killer" can stop worrying now. OJ can no longer spend every waking moment looking for him.
