Congratulations, nice fish. Did he give ya the fever? If so they do pretty good on bucktail jigs also in white or shartruse (sorry about the spelling on that last word) it's a bright yellow green color.

Not sure where you are in SC but Santee cooper is a great place to fish. Have you checked there yet.

If your useing cheap swivels all they are good for is ease of changing lures. They don't help much with twist. Bearing swivels cost about three or four times as much but do a much better job cutting down on line twist. I've also found the clasps to be much stronger on them . The bearings allow the swivel to spin more freely when pulled through the water . One more thing , if you are trying to reel in while drag is going out on a spinning reel you are creating the twist in your line. Good luck. Keep us informed on the progress of the issue.

Sounds like success story to me, you've got a boat and a fishing partner. Good luck and welcome. Tight lines.

They do look to be Stripers but they are juveniles. He did say that was the boats limit we don't know how many were on the boat. Everywhere I've ever been the limit is two per person per day.

The Stripers we caught in Chesapeake Bay were sea going also and get much bigger. We caught one at the bay tunnel bridge that had been tagged three years prior as a juvenile in a NC river he weighed in at 38 lbs.

Looks like my old school penn's but the side plates on mine are black. Pair it with a good saltwater bait casting rod and use it for bottom fishing or trolling.

My mother-in-law crushes corn flakes and dips them in egg then the corn flake crumbs and it's good too.

A correctly tied knot won't untie itself. Rig up whenever you want.

I only retie a swivel if the line gets roughed up or compromised otherwise it's the same knot for weeks on end. If you tie it right no worries.

Fresh water fishing I use 4 or 6lb test on a spinning rod , in saltwater I fish 20lb braid on baitcaster and land 40 to 45lb strippers . It's all about the drag and the cover your fishing.

Unless your fishing in a barrel there's always a little luck envolved but there is a ton of info and skills to learn and the more you acquire the less luck determines your outcome. Stick at it and start yourself a couple of books to keep track of all that info. One book for rigs and setups , what worked for you on what fish. The other is a diary of sorts for your fishing trips , when where weather conditions and fishing results. If you add personal thoughts it's also a great thing to leave your kids when your gone, they will be able to read about you and possibly learn about you even after your gone.
