I cheat cut it into chunks and pickle it like herring, if you frying and get the Y bones out great if not pick around the bones to get a taste of that “sweet” meat and you’ll be hooked enough to learn the trick.

I would like to play you a symphony on thin Mississippi ice. It appears I can’t post a video or is this the wrong place?

Lots of European countries have carp as a staple. The trick is to kill them shortly after catching and put them on ice. They release histamines if they die slow and warm.

The best way to eat carp is to brine in your ham or bacon brine for several days then smoke them we usually just cut the sides off with bones the bigger the fish the longer the time to smoke. MMmmmm

These were used in place of tip-ups where the distance between holes was too far to see the tip-up flag they could be mounted on a tri pod high up in the air with an ”S” hook. I haven't seen one since the 60s. I’d still use it just be sure the reel is well oiled.

I agree with tman, go to the fish market pick out your meal then have the fish monger wrap the fish and throw them to you so when you get home you can say “Look what I caught”
