We don't have pike where i fish.. Most people I've asked say it isn't worth dealing with all the bones. I was wondering whether you all were eating them or releasing them back.

They are delicious, but I would probably not eat one over 10# Much depends on the water they came from.
There are 5 filets on each of them and numerous videos online which can show how to avoid the Y bones.

Yes they are. Once you learn how to clean they are very tasty. There are several good videos on YouTube teaching methods to clean

Yes pike can be delicious. As others have stated they need to be Filleted correctly. They have Y bones tricky to get

Different folks have different tastes. I, personally, don’t eat them. Don’t like the taste but in know folks that love to eat em. Personal preference.

I grind them up add onions, celery, raw egg and white bread. Make like meatballs then boil them in chicken stock. Eat hot with cocktail sauce.

Great eating fish. I you go on U-tube there are directions on how to filet Northern Pike and end up with 5 boneless filets. They are a hard fighting fish especially when they are over 30". Delicious breaded and pan fried or baked.

The best eating fish in the world is walleye. The second best is pike under 2 lbs. Can hardly tell them apart. The third would be cod. I filet out the rib and Y bones leaving 2 intact fileted pieces. A thin strip of Y bone meat the size of a pencil is discarded.

I've found the farther North you fish, the better they taste. They
seem to replacing walleye as the favored shore lunch fish in many
of the lakes I fish -- more flavor, but not "fishy."

I eat them all the time but you have to get the bones out first, not a problem once you learn how

They were very good eating in Michigan's U.P. especially when you were making $222.30 a month as a second lieutenant.

Keep the mid-sized to larger fish and throw them on the smoker. Doesn''t get much better but you can watch you-tube videos and get the way to fillet them out in 5 fillets and have very few bones and they fry up great.
MAS fish

Yes there’s a Y bone remove it and you have some nice fillets to eat just as good as any walleye.
