I’d go with a Dexter as well.

Jello from the box? I lived a sheltered life. Never tried that one.

Curb ball, and my first 3 speed was all I needed back then.

Wet your finger and stick it into the box. The Jello stuck finger which you sucked off.

Fishing for large (6 to 9 lb) Brown Trout in upstate New York we use a large net. This is necessary because you have to step down from a steep bank to get into the water; fishing from shore is not feasible due to the trees all along the bank. Carrying such a net is difficult even though the handle retracts— gets snagged on brush and tree limbs along the path along the river bank.

My apologies, I mostly fish Saltwater.

I fish only saltwater. Don’t waste the time and effort unless that is the only bait you can get.

[quote=dmountan]Any one tried freezing the left over minnows and using them next outing?[/quote

I have tried this time and again. Does not work very well, they tend to be soft after thawing out and do not stay on the hook well. Better than nothing!

I have several that also seem to make me sweat. The ones I lean to most often are more of a light silky material.. and well vented! I usually keep an eye open in the Fall for clearance racks.. can usually get em for less than $10. Scored several on clearance last year at Tractor Supply of all places!!!

The silky type shirts are hotter than cotton; they do not let the heat dissipate.

Hot temperatures are quickly approaching southeast Louisiana. I have several styles and several brands of fast drying, lightweight, stain free, fishing shirts, however, most of them seem to induce sweating. They don’t seem to breath well and they are anything but inexpensive. What brands and styles have y’all found to be fast drying, lightweight, stain free, and not induce sweating? Pictures and links would be extremely helpful.

Google Wick Away shirts for Artic cool shirts.

And, most of my fishing takes place at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and north or east, out in the ocean.

I never used a drift sock, but my understanding of it's use is that, on a windy day, in still water, it is used to slow your drift and help control your boat position. I've used a short piece of chain on a rope to do the same thing in current (river fishing)

To slow down a larger boat 26 ft or more, it takes a very large sock to have much effect.

Getaway - why would you not just "go slower" ? You do have speed control on your motor (electric ? Gas ?), don't you ? I am confused as to the practice you describe, and why this "works", please explain. Thanks.

At times the wind and/or current cause the boat to move too fast even at idle. If trying to troll while fishing on the bottom, the use of a drift sock allows you to use a lighter lead to hold bottom. We slow troll for flounder here at the southern most part of the bay. Catch many more slow trolling than drift fishing. Plus you control where the boat does and can fish exactly the area you feel that the fish will be.
