Hot temperatures are quickly approaching southeast Louisiana. I have several styles and several brands of fast drying, lightweight, stain free, fishing shirts, however, most of them seem to induce sweating. They don’t seem to breath well and they are anything but inexpensive. What brands and styles have y’all found to be fast drying, lightweight, stain free, and not induce sweating? Pictures and links would be extremely helpful.

Welcome to the Forum, Saltcore. That question has not been asked before that I am aware of anyway.

I've got a couple Columbia and a Magellan that seem to work pretty well, of course here in Tennessee when the humidity get up there you could be but naked and sweat. Really like the zippered pockets on the Magellan.

When it really warms up here in Wisconsin, we wear flannel shirts and long underwear. In August, we leave the Longhorns at home

Saltcore: I'm in north Tx. and it gets plenty hot here in the summer. I've some Red Head brand shirts I got from Cabela's that are the best I've found. I started wearing only long sleeves the last couple of years, and I do get warm, but not nearly as hot as I did with the Columbia and Magellan that were all nylon. And, the Red Head shirts had SPF rating tags but I don't remember the number.

I'll have to take a look at the Red Head brand, I also wear long sleeves in the summer now that my skin don't really like the sun anymore.

no such thing , unfortunately, It gets crazy hot here. Best Ive found is the old western shirts with the pearl snap buttons and lightweight fabric.. you will still sweat , but you can unbutton them some and breeze will blow thru, and the sweat evaporation in the wind cools you. and you got those 2 front pockets lol I wiah pocket t shirts came w/ 2 pockets , I dont smoke anymore, but still use pockets for weverything

long sleeve mostly

Gentlemen: When I was young, it was the thing to have a deep tan. I've worked on a drilling rig all summer without a shirt. Fishing or water skiing with just swim trunks.

Now I'm paying the price. I cannot count the various pre-skin cancers I've had burned off, and the surgeries of those worse cancers! I know that as youngsters we never listened to "old farts".

But, if you take advice from someone with experience and the scars to prove it, cover up, use a lot of strong sun block. It's expensive and painful to fight skin cancers later in life.

I have used both Columbia and Magellan long sleeved shirts and though I prefer Columbia, they are about the same. When fishing on the Amazon River there would be a rain storm about noon, or 1:00 every day. You had to decide whether to don rain gear, or simply hunker down and take it and get soaked. Because not 15 minutes later, the sun is back out and you dry off if you are wet, and sweating if you put on a rain suit. I finally just took the soaking and dry out after. Just sayin..RJS

Saw1: I'm in far north Dallas.

BankStalker: Don't know how any man can function without at least one, and preferably two, shirt pockets. Don't know, but western shirts may be more economical.

Ivey: Skin on my arms getting too thin. I'm near 80 yo now. Also have to be careful with my face too - pre-cancerous skin lesions from too much sun for too many years. If you get Red Head brand, try them on; their sizes run a little larger than most other mfgr's.
