The tide and conditions finally got right this past weekend for live shrimp and my cane poles. I got 22 bass Saturday out of 36 shrimp, kept a limit. On Sunday I got a good mix of several species. I let most of the bass go, the ones I kept are the ones that swallowed the hook. The drum, white trout, ground mullet, and catfish were for a friend. I let 2 catfish go. I wanted him to try them first. I tried to tell him that Alabama cats taste like mud, but he says he likes them. We will see.

Looks like Canada has some to spare.

I really don't understand what all these whiners are not wanting to pump water across the country. So, so many trillions of barrels of flood water roll right into the gulf of mexico during the spring. From what I know and understand there are enough out of service gas lines to start sending water quick anywhere in the US.

Well, you have half of you answer already. For ground fish dead shrimp or cut bait. For sharks bigger bait bigger rods.

Try some of the rigs around 20-30 miles offshore. Live crakers, 1/2 of a pogie, whole cigar minnow, squid on bottom.
The public reefs get hit hard and are best fished very early or at night.

I picked it up and put it back. I’ve eaten octopus but find it tough and flavorless

That's to bad, what I had was very tender and really tasty.

I got flown out to an Italian crewed super tanker one time to do a quick job and to say the least the food was great. The first lunch was Octopus Salad, Squid Spaghetti, and fresh hot Focaccia.

They were channel cats. Down here in Alabama you can buy crickets by the 100 for around $4.00.

Finally got to go to Lake Guntersville for a few days last week. Unfortunatly we had the first good cold front of the season meet us there. Super windy and chilly nights. Naturaly the bass and sacalait mostly had lockjaw. I ended up bream fishing around the boat houses in our cove, doing really good and noodle fishing catfish. Consistantly got two catfish out of 10 noodles every night, used perch minnows for bait. Used 400 crickets on the bream. Probably got 300+ bream between me and the wife. Released all but what we ate. Bream tasted fantastic, the catfish were ok, but still had a hint of that Alabama muddy taste. No catfish is better than a Louisiana catfish.
Great cabin, VRBO# 183406. The owner will rent direct if anyone wants his contact info send me a PM.

If you want to fish on the beach use spinning rods, two hook leaders 2/0 or smaller, 1-2 oz pyramid weight, and dead shrimp. Same thing on Gulf State Park pier. Sometimes there are some special "A" kind of folks on the pier with gopro youtube stuff that act like they own it.

Suicide Bridge, I bet the crabs were really fat. LOL. I did see a body recovered once in the Mobile River. It was covered in crabs. Never stopped me from eating them tho.
