I wanted to take a sunrise pic on January 1, but I couldn't get my old bones out of bed in time. This will have to do. I've fished this area before, but not today. Too cold!
Love those kind of gifts! Hand made, personal, thoughtful.
Thanks, Papa. I sent those to my wife, who then posted them on Facebook. I, being of sound mind, do not use Facebook.
Reminds me of my first supervisor. Nice guy, and one of the best bosses I ever had, but he was quite naive. First, you need to know that my name is Jack. One day the boss was away, but I wanted to know if he had gotten the dates right for my upcoming vacation, so I went into his office to check his calendar. Sure enough, he had the proper dates marked with a note saying, "Jack off all week."
It's not Christmas without fruitcake. The best commercially made ones we've found are from the Trappist Monastery. We usually get it in late November, soak it with bourbon until solstice, then sample it and try not to eat it all before Christmas.

I see a 300 Mitchell. I have a 300 and a 308 both made in France
I have a 301 (left handed model).
A sucker is as ugly as a mud fence, but they put up a good fight.
Weskeag River in South Thomaston, aka, "The Gig". Park in the Keag Store lot. Half tide coming is usually best.

Wow tuboshu, I'm salivating just looking at the photos! Were you throwing frogs or punching?
I must admit, I'm lousy at froggin'. I do use a frog, but mostly as a search bait. When I miss the fish, which is most of the time, I follow up with something else. In this case I was using Sluggos and Swimming Senkos.
[yquote=ripogenu]Is that an Old Towne you’re sitting in?[/quote]
Yes. It was called a Pack canoe when bought it. I think they call it a Discovery 12 now.
The weather was great, so I decided to go to a small pond that I hadn't fished for a while. The pond has lots of LMB, but they are mostly small. No matter, I just wanted to relax. First picture was what greeted me upon my arrival. It opened up a bit around the bend, but weedless lures were the order of the day. Second picture is typical of what I caught. I ended up catching (and releasing) about a dozen.
Caught this 7# 2oz brown in the North Branch of the Raritan River in 1990. I've been away for a while, so I don't know if the fishing is still good there.
