You can always buy them from one of the markets on wharf #1. Wharf #2 also may have them. I haven’t been there for several years, but assume they still exist.
Show closest fishing charters out of Monterey Bay in Monterey California. (Sam’s or Chris’s) There is a pattern as to when the squid come into spawn, and I believe they’re in probably twice a year, but they can tell you when and how to locate them. If they are in, they’ll be catching them on the way out with a charter to use as bait for bigger fish. It’s a lot of fun. Keep some for Calamari.
We wouldn’t call those “Baby Calimari”. They are jus one of several species common to our
West Coast and much of the world.
Common names: Pacific squid, Opalescent, Market squid
Lots of information on Google.
Why do you want baby calamari?
I must be confused. Why would snow burn?
Probably an old favorite recipe. I was watching an old "GUNSMOKE" series the other day and "Chester Good" was getting ready to boil some catfish he had caught. Of course DOC thought he was crazy for doing so.
I'd be having serious doubt about this boat. If the owner was abusive enough to destroy the transom, what other damage may exist that you haven't found or hasn't failed yet. Price may be low, but you get what you pay for and I think you're buying a boat load of headache.
Depends:
Rockfish range from the intertidal zone to almost 3,000 meters or 9,800 feet deep. You will usually find them living benthically on substrates, often around rock outcrops.
Rockfish live in a variety of habitats. Some live on rocky reefs or seafloors in nearshore shallow waters. Others live on the deep seafloor or in the water column. In giant kelp forests, rockfish hover motionless under the kelp canopy, buoyed by their air bladders.
I quit fishing up there many years ago, the limit was reduced to 10 fish at the time and if you got 10 fish, most of the times it barely gave you enough for a good meal. Figured I’d give the fish a chance to grow up. Now I live in Southern California and fish out of Dana Point. Hardly worth going the fish are so small unless you’re an overnight boat going for much deeper water and load up and yellowtail and other big fish. I’m thinking I’m going to limit my fishing to my home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
First time I’ve heard a Stripper referred to a Rockfish. There are lots of different species of rockfish. I don’t think that is one of them.
Here’s another charter company in Monterey.

I first fished there in 1973. Fish were big then. Limit of 15 Rockfish might not fit your gunny sack. 25-35 pound long cod weren’t uncommon.
I “Google” searched “monterey,CA fishing reports” and found “ https://jmsportfishing.com/reports/”.
It’s all there.
Places like “Turner’s” give classes. Try to attend and learn some tips.
Years ago I made some anchors using this concept. Difference was a sort of half circle bend near the base so when chain slide to the base and you pulled it tight it stayed at the base and could slide back up the shaft. It also aided in pulling they anchor backwards in case it was stuck under rocks or coral.
I’ve been house shopping and considering moving to the area. In my search of homes on water I noticed lots of fish. I’d think the best bang for your dollar is higher a local guide to show you the ropes. I’ve done this before at other places I’ve lived at it was money well spent.
