Makes sense do you know if any one are catching anything thing it seems like nobody is getting any bites in Ferndale

Heard of some doing well but that most not so good,I managed to put 5 in the freezer, not near as well as last year but that was out in Puget sound, haven't tried rivers yet,not enough rain to bring them up in numbers yet.

Does anyone know what the silver are biting on and what kind of luehe and color my first year salmon fishing

One never truly knows what will work every time, sometimes pink sometimes purple, sometimes red, sometime jigs, sometimes spoons, etc, best to do is go with a variety of options and switch out gear and hope you have something they want to bite on.

For those who are not familiar with northwest Washington, deception pass is a saltwater area. This time of year, the salmon pass close enough to shore for fishing opportunities. Most of the fish that pass through are on their way to the Skagit river to spawn. For those who have never had silver(coho) salmon before, they are very good eating.

And on a side note, suggest that if one wishes to fish from shore that you stay ON the shore, the current created by the tide changes can sweep you off your feet and carry you along faster than one might think.

yes 8-2 closed on the 19 and 9 closses I believe at the end of this week. all for salmon but still can fish for most flat fish, perch etc. I don't know about area 10 which has been pretty good fishing lately. I wish they were open until mid October which would alow us to fish most of the run but it is what it is. most years the weather takes a turn end of Sept. first part of October which would prevent a lot of boats from going out anyway. 8-2 only has had part of it open the past several years I think the fishery suffered under over net fishing by commercial and tribe boats in the past and now they are trying to rebuild the runs

There appears to be significant amount of grass and weeds in the pond I have out my back door, which I have been fishing. I know this because virtiually every time I cast what ever my bait of choice is, it comes back with a clump of vegatation. I am fishing from shore and can see the grass that is growing in splotches approxiematly 3-5 feet from the shore and I would assume that the depths of this pond is approximately 3' to 5' deep at its deepest. Grass and weeds are usally coverd with about 1' to 2' of water. One can see the somewhat elusive nice size Bass at times munuever above and around the splotches of grassbeds. Of course I start throwing baits, hoping that one of them decides to entertain me. I have caught some smaller fish but have yet to catch a an adult fish. I know the grass beds attract fish. My question is how to catch the fish with out haveing to clean weed off your bait after every time you make a cast.

Try cast and retrieve with rubber worm rigged weedless,as in hook point turned back into worm and just ready to come out opposite side

I visited a Wallace River Hatchery in Sultan Washington a couple months back. They said they will be releasing King Salmon into the river, and we can fish for them October 1. I made reservations for a cabin close to there so I'll be there for the release. I saw something that said there is an emergency closure due to water levels? Is there anywhere else close to that area I can fish and have good success? My lady has never caught a Salmon, was hoping that would be her first experience...

They release smolts(babies) not adults, below the Wallace is the Skykomish, from Sultan south of Monroe, lots of spots to put a line in the water but as to good success, thats a hit or miss, trial and error, cast many different lures, plugs and other tackle till you find the right color, action, pattern that they prefer.most important hint I'll throw your way though is make sure you use barbless hooks or pinch the barbs as all salmon fishing this side of the mountains is barbless single hook and some places no bait, real or artificial.
