I would NEVER use Red anywhere in a reel! We call that "Stud Lock " and use it to lock head studs in an engine block. You need a Hot Wrench (Torch) to get them out! Blue in moderation would probably be ok, but why?
If you service your reels once a year, and properly tighten all the fasteners, you shouldn't need Locktite.

I bought some reel handle parts. The vendor gives instructions to use the blue Loctite on a couple of the connections.

I'd go a 4000-6000 depending on what lines you plan to use.

That a lot of fish for 3 fishermen. How far out did you have to go.

We were no further than 15 miles from shore.
We fished in 200 to 300 feet of water.
We caught a lot of small snapper. Great eating but a lot of work for their size.

We had a great day. Fairly flat, clear skies, 84 degrees, and a slight breeze.
Three of us caught 41 fish total. I boated a nice big female dorado first thing. We trolled the tide line but only picked up the one.
Started bottom dropping and caught a variety of fish including grouper, Pargo and a few others.
Had a skipjack hit one of our squid baits as we were untangling our lines.
In the afternoon, were returned to the spot where we picked up the dorado. No dorado but we did get another skipjack.
Thanks to those who wished us a safe and productive trip.

I like the Scotty brand myself. West Marine has the same type, but I have the Scotty. Very good quality.

I agree. Used Scotty on my boats.

Reels typically have a line weight rating. What is your new reel? Mount it and see how it feels.

Welcome to the Forum, specopsjuno, What your car can tow, is not the question, the question is what your car can stop safely. Your car's braking system is designed to stop the weight of the vehicle and its passengers Not an additional 2,000 lbs. DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Towing capacity of a vehicle includes the towing vehicle’s ability to stop however you really want to look at the GCWR as well as the GAWR. https://www.curtmfg.com/towing-capacity

Chum or dog salmon are fun on gear that will handle a 12# fish. These guys will give you a good fight and can nick your leader. They will take coho flies, flash flies, shiny lures and roe. I mostly used a 9’ 6 wt fly rod or a 8’6” lamiglas norwest special with a Abu 5000 series round reel.

I have a "chum" I go fishing with named Homer.
In Oregon, "using chum" is mostly illegal in freshwater.
"Chum", a.k.a. "pinks"....are a species of salmon the Eskimos feed their sled dogs.... not necessarily the family.

Gear for catching ??? Ask your local tackle shop would be a good start.....or just Google it, I guess. Have never heard of anyone "targeting" them, unless they are sled running.(that was in Alaska)

Sorry, chum are also known as dog salmon. Pinks are also known as humpys.
