Funny to see this I just bought a little 14 ft boat and I will admit I'm nervous as heck that I dont screw up something. I've never had any prior boat experience launching or even fishing from a boat! All helpful tips are welcome !

Yeah, don't do what the guy in that picture did!

thanks again

See if you can find a book of lake maps for the area you are going to fish in Northern Michigan. Any Sporting Goods Store in the area of these 2 lakes should have them. So will a local Walmart in that area. These maps are pretty good, and will at the very least give you a place/places to start. Good luck.

Wow Kelly. You're telling my story. I moved up here July 15,2016 from Ohio. (Don't hold that against me guys.) Have a house in Interlochen on an in-land lake. I'm also a disabled Vet. Little older (71) and not yet using a chair. Mainly because I'm to stubborn to get one. I too have a Ranger boat also a little older (1980) but in good shape. Can't walk a long way but can hook up the boat and launch it. I love fishing for Salmon, Steelhead, Pike and Bass. Would always be glad to have a fishing partner. I see this as being the start of a great friendship, maybe. Let me know what you think. By the way name's John.

Hi I was thinking of fishing next week, with the water all stirred, from the hurricane, how good do you thinking fishing would be?

Thanks, guys

The way Dorian has been acting, looks like you could fish from your upstairs bedroom window.

Printed lake topographical maps can be a great source of general locations on lakes you have never fished before.

Welcome to the Forum, Papa Bear JD. He could also call his local CO. if he knows who he/she is and his/her number. Or, he could call the County's Sheriff's Dept. and they will give the him the name and number of the CO. to him. I was kidding about the "try it and find out", I do kid once in a while. It will also say in the rules and regulation book.

Thanks for the welcome flyguy. Knew you were kidding about trying to find out. I have the same sort a sense a humor. Been reading the the forum for a couple months now, and finally decided to join up.

Are you really giving the other types of baits a decent amount of work? I find that if I use an unproven (To me.) method I have a tendency to try it for a short period, and end up going back to baits I have caught fish with in the past, and don't really give the new bait, method, a fair try. I get most of my Bass on Crank Baits, Swim Baits and Wake baits. Very few on Spinner Baits, Texas Rigged Worms, or other finesse type baits.

Try calling the Texas Fish and Game people, and ask them.
