Have you seen any beds yet?

no, we didn't spot any beds yet where we were, but it should be soon. water temp was 58, thinking as soon as it gets near 65.

they're starting to stage over here at canyon lake, caught 9 by noon. most were males between 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 lbers. biggest one of the day was this 3 1/4 lber. all in all, a good day. love being on the water.

I'd say veer right after the 1st bridge, you'll see trails to drive down. get some live croakers and walk out about 100 - 200 ft. and start tossing. trout and red haven out there. good luck.

That island is where most fish were caught on Saturday. 93 out of 120 anglers skunked. Several people told me that Somerville was notoriously tough to fish. Oh well, I had a great time anyway!

good to hear......(that you had a good time) fishing has been tough since the freeze. it'll perk up....

somersville can put out some hawgs if you can find them. i fished out and around the island that you can see from the ramp. anyway, good luck. early march will be the spawn. males up by the nest crunching topwater and the females out in 8 - 10' of water nearby.

google earth and set the timeline to present, and it'll give you the latest pic. we use that on our lake and put it on the lowest it has been in a year to find hidden ponds, roads, etc.

it really hasn't started here at canyon lake. we're thinking in a couple of weeks. we have raced over to some feeding on the top and have caught a few using silver and smoke flukes. just give it a couple more weeks.

canyon lake, will be a bit tougher during the winter and the fact that it is 10 1/2' down. but closest proximity to s.a. would be canyon lake. lake lbj is on fire right now, but bank fishing I'm not aware of where you could go. get someone to take you to choke in late February or March. monsters will come out to play including the gators. good luck.
