If you are DSing in trees and the hook gets hung up you're losing everything anyway. If you're just getting the weight hung up every now and then, they usually come unhung when tied on. Even if you loose the weight or everything now and then it's better than just losing your DS weight more often the other way. DS weights are pricy as apposed to regular weights but the long cylinders don't get hung up nearly as much as regular ones.

Paper clips work too and last longer.

Had the same thing happen to me. Saved the boat and raised the trailer, but my 4x4 went down in 25 feet of water( bad brake).

That might be my best route then, if I don't get any input to the contrary.

It is what it is, and $600 is my limit, or it's back to the float tube.

I remember when I got a Mitchell 300 as a kid in 1961. It was like space age compared to the old bait caster.

There was a pond( actually an isolated-section of the San Diego river, called Old Man pond by the locals in Santee. Does this pond still exist or was it filled in during the SD riverwalk project? It use to hold a few nice bass.

We had one just like that with the old black Dacron line. For a kid who didn’t know how to set it up and cast it was “”Bird’s nest Hell”! LOL!

Looking for a little crappie action using a float tube at this river. Are there any sizable populations of crappie there?

Don’t put a lot of pressure or importance on the catch. Make it about spending time with her. If you do catch a fish, be prepared for the question: Does it hurt the fish? Girls are sensitive to those things. Showing the mechanics of the cast on the lawn without a lot is snagging brush would be great. Give plenty of praise for her efforts. That’s about it

I agree! I spend more energy talking myself into doing things, even things I use to love doing, than I actually spend doing them.
