We've got several yak fishermen on this site, however, I'm not sure $600.00 is feasible amount for a good fishin yak.
You could PM Elefantdude. He has started several kayak fishin clubs and is a very knowledgeable man on the subject.

It is what it is, and $600 is my limit, or it's back to the float tube.

I understand brother. I would suggest you try to find what you want on craigslist or some site like it.
It's just not very realistic that you will find a NEW fishin kayak for that amount.
However hopefully you can get a used one that fits all your needs for that amount. I really hope so.
Really Dave, PM Edude. Maybe he can help you find what you want.

That might be my best route then, if I don't get any input to the contrary.

I am with Saw 4 shore ( shore is for your yak ). The guy Saw is suggesting you contact will probably know of someone that may have what your after in your price range. It is definitely worth trying. The people that have been in the sport your wanting to get into can always help you and that most definitely will save you money. This is a website full of really good people. I hope you find what your after. I have scratched pennies together for decades wishing they were $100 dollar bills but good people will help you succeed. I hope you get in touch with Elefantdude he will help you. He is a very cool person and posts pictures of Kayaking quite a bit.

Good Luck.

I saw 2 used Yaks in PERFECT condition in Portland last summer. One was 500 bux. The other was 300 bux. Try and not get in a hurry. Make sure and sit in it and take it for a float so you know you will be comfortable.

Good Luck on your quest. Just remember a Kayak is a BOAT. BOAT means Bust Out Another Thousand.

Please share pictures once you find the right deal.

Sorry but, a Yak at that price will not hold up very well and not last long.

Contrary to some responses here, there are several kayaks in that price range. I have a Old Town Vapor. I prefer sit in. Also you might check Perception Sound. Both are 10’ +/- At 73 I’m still able to get in & out and car rack it without much trouble. Good luck.

My Son recently picked up an Ascend H12 for duck hunting and fishing with tons of extras off Facebook Marketplace for about $400. Nice unit, lots of storage space, 2 rod holders, but it is heavy. Definitely worth a look.

I understand $600 is what it is, while you probably won't find a decked out fishing kayak for that amount, you can find one that you can set up the way you want for fishing, I did. Was just at Wal-Mart ( ok now everyone cringe 😬). They had a nice sit on top one for well under your budget. Putting a couple of rod holders on and adding an anchor and trolly system you would still be under budget. Might even add a depth/fish finder (Garmin 4+) any only slightly go over budget. Arguments will be that it won't last, well after getting into kayak fishing and finding how much fun it is, your first kayak won't be your last. Good luck and enjoy.

Yep, sometimes that's the way to do it. I'm hoping to upgrade to a pedal model in a year or so.

Some used Ocean Kayak Tandems for $75! My first kayak was an Ocean Kayak Scrambler XT. Very stable and cheap. That is why most kayak rental places use them ;-)
