Last summer, while fishing on Truman Lake in Missouri we witnessed most of this "personal disaster" of an older gentleman. It was sad to see a perfectly good truck in the water like this. It was interesting to see the boat kept the back of the truck from sinking under. I think maybe he backed too far causing the rear wheels to be lifted from the ramp but am not sure of that. We never learned for sure what happened to cause it but did see by his actions that he was older and seemed quite confused, having trouble following instructions of those who were rescuing his truck and boat for him. Note that a couple of good guys, one in the water were attaching a line to the truck so it could be brought back to the ramp. I think the poor guy was still in the truck in the pictures and if the truck had actually sunk completely it could have been much worse that it turned out!

Yea no kidding.
That’s a shame.
One time I was launching. Lake was a little low . Rear wheels got in slime. Harder I tried to move forward the farther back I went.
Didn’t go in too deep , rear wheels in water.
Fortunately a Chinese guy was there and towed me back to dry ramp.
Coulda went bad real quick.
i think i met that chinese dude...his name was"toe yu too" or something

Quiet possibly what happened was the guy forgot to unhook the tie down straps and winch rope. That causes the boat to remain tied to the trailer and it will float the trailer up. That might have been enough for the back of his truck to also float up and the boat and trailer then just kept pullin the truck further into the water.
Thank goodness someone was there to help him get out. That's just a bummer man.
I had the same problem once. Steep ramp and low tide. Had to hitch to another trick to get up. Good example of why you put a hitch on the front to launch.

I've never had a problem. I also have a 4WD pickup if I need to I could always put it 4WD.
would that be high or low range 4wd?

In this case with the floatin truck, I don't think either one would help.
You can definitely see some strange sights at the ramp. I watched a guy back in one day. Un hooked strap n saftey chain. Guy in the boat fired it up put it in reverse. Keep slamming throttle. Bow would pop up but wasn't moving. I walked over and ask him if he'd taken the stern straps off. Pull back up the ramp both still on. Watched a guy bri g in a big ole bass boat. Chop at ramp was big n the wind was wild. He came in hot put boat sideways on trailer. Think he had more money than brains. He keep trying to run it off the trailer sideways. I keep wondering why his driver just back up n float it off. Last a friend of mine had a roller trailer with gumed up rollers. He'd unstrap then back down. Next time i saw him i got the story. Lubed rollers unstraped started back in. Boat hit ramp halfway down.

I used to do a lot of duck hunting out of the Rocky River. (Cleveland, Ohio) Duck season in Cleveland it gets real cold. We would always have a second truck up on the flat part before the ramp. With its winch ready! Ramp would be a sheet of ice!! Saved us more than once. This was before kids. Don’t think I have what it takes to lay out shoot the big water anymore!
Back when I had my 28 in the marina , I'd drive into town for a coffee and a bagel. While the wife was sleeping in, I'd go park at the ramp and watch the show. Never failed to be entertaining.
