Shrimp, Frozen squid and clams are all good saltwater baits and are all available at any large grocery or seafood store. Online tackle shops sell gulp and artificial baits that you might consider.

In New Jersey tidal water I’ve used dead grass shrimp dropped off the back of the boat.
I then bait a small hook with a few grass shrimp and drift it out with the chummed shrimp.
Works pretty well in Delaware bay tidal creeks.
Tight lines!

Check for any closures before you make the trip. Most of the parks in the suburbs have been closed due,to virus. They’ve also closed the liquor stores in the burbs!

Snakeheads have been caught in the pond in the park in Philadelphia near the phila navy yard.
I,don’t know the name of the park but it’s across from the stadiums on broad street.

I primarily fish surf
I’ve caught fish off the rocks at the barnegat lighthouse and also island beach state park.
The jetty in north wildwood is also productive sometimes depending on where the channel shifts to.
Good luck !

I recommend Toyota 4Runner. Mine is 21 yrs old runs perfect but being in the salt belt of the northeast the frame is rusting out. Probably get another year out of it before I have to junk it. It’s hard to drive a good running car to a junk yard cause it won’t pass state inspection. This truck doesn’t owe me anything

I like a bucktail baited with a gulp twisted tail and a dropper loop about 18 inches above with another gulp minnow.
Check out YouTube. John skinner flounder for some interesting viewing. You’ll learn a lot.

This seems to be both a crappie rig in some parts of the country and a top and a “top and bottom” rig for saltwater fishing in other parts of the country. I imagine it’ll,work, well for both.

Several things that you can do

Speak with the local bait shop for advice on tackle lures and baits and when fishing don’t be afraid to ask questions of other fisher persons there. Most will share techniques and get you on the right track.

The hooks with leader can easily be attached through the loop at the end of the twisted wire.
I’ve used these fishing in jersey for many years . The weights I’ve used are usually the ones with a wire loop that would certainly connect to that snap

I think the issue here relates to the bait.
Circle hooks usually hook near the jaw. It could be that when pin fish are hooked near the tail and swallowed by a fish the fins of the bait don’t allow the hook to slide out of the stomach of the fish and the hook engage near the jaw. Just my opinion. Can’t think of any other reason that would consistently happen.

Looks to be a fishing rig for saltwater fishing. The hooks with leaders are attached to the twisted wire ends and a sinker weight is attached to the snap clip at the one end. The other end with the swivel is attached to the fishing line. I’ve seen the used in jersey for deep sea fishing . The hooks are then baited with squid, clams or fish bites. Hope this answers your question.

Fished the kenai River many years ago. Stayed at a fish camp right on the river. Think it was great Alaska lodge. Excellent food, they cleaned and processed all fish caught and even cook a fresh fish lunch on a remote island on one of the boat trips. A truly unforgettable experience.
