This coming fall will be my husband and I 10 years anniversary and I want to offer him the fishing trip of a lifetime. If you could go fishing anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?

Salmon fishing in Alaska. Or a deep sea charter for swordfish or mahi mahi. Let me know if he needs a fishing buddy.

Thank you for your answer! Funny you should say that because I am also trying to choose which one of his friends would make the best fishing buddy for the trip. None of them is as passionate about fishing as my husband is and I want him to have the best trip possible so it is kind of tough. What makes the best fishing buddy in your opinion?

If I may ask other questions, when would you say is the best time of the year to go fishing in Alaska? Given that he is unafraid of the cold and a real snack for blood sucking bugs, is it better to go in the fall and fish silver salmon?

Spring or fall will be fine. Look up dipnetting real quick. Good fishing buddy is quiet in my opinion and humble. Passionate but understanding. I have a few I rotate around to make sure I don’t burn them out. Passion is the biggest qualifier in my opinion.

Try fishing the cape cod canal and you will be in for a good time because there are stripers running up and down it in schools and when they hit everybody has a good time. I live near it and I take my wife all the time fishing for stripers. Not to mention stripers but there are many fish that go in and out of the canal and fishermen come from all over the United States to fish the canal one time

Plus no hour ride on a boat to find them. Or you can fish everything by taking a charter. We have awsome fishing here.

Depends on his specific fishing interests. A fly fisherman would want to go somewhere completely different than an avid bass fisherman or saltwater fisherman.

If I could go anywhere in the world for fishing I'm not sure where I would go, but Cape Cod Canal wouldn't be on my list.

Wow, I just looked into it and it looks absolutely amazing. The flights prices are (understandably) a bit steep but i'll keep it in the bucket as a dream destination. Thank you for your answer.

I was super excited to experience the fishing culture in the Florida Keys and was sadly dissapointed on two separate occasions.

We run 3 trips a day, 7 days a week for 5 months straight on the Lake Michigan. The busiest captain I talked to in the keys ran 3 or 4 times a week.

Our bait shops double as fish cleaners, fish smoking houses, bars, restaurants, convenience stores and general safe havens for fisherman. Nothing of the sort in the keys. The bait shop owners, captains and mates said that its frowned upon locally because that's not a family friendly environment for tourists.

You're right...... that sort of place in the Keys would just attract drunks, outlaws and generally unfavorable people
